Location: Barcelona, Spain #LI-Hybrid (12 days/month in office)
The Novartis Digital Finance hub crafts finance solutions leveraging technology and data science. Artificial intelligence and predictive analytics are reshaping the function, and this team is key in bringing Data science capabilities to the Finance associates. We are looking for an Associate Director, Data Science to join the team, to understand complex and critical business problems from a variety of stakeholders and business functions, formulate integrated analytical approach to mine data sources, employ statistical methods and machine learning algorithms to contribute discover actionable insights and transform processes with technology.


 

Job Description

Your responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Innovate by transforming the way to solve a problem using Effective data management, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.

  • Articulate solutions/recommendations to business users and provide pathways to manage data effectively for analytical uses.

  • Present analytical content concisely and effectively to non-technical audiences and influence non-analytical business leaders to drive major strategic decisions based on analytical inputs

  • Coordinate, prioritize and efficiently allocate the team resources to critical initiatives: plan resources proactively, anticipate and actively manage change, set stakeholder expectations as required, identify operational risks and enable the team to drive issues to resolution, balance multiple priorities and minimize surprise escalations.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, external partners and Institutions and cross-functional teams to solve critical business problems, propose operational efficiencies and innovative approaches.

  • Proactively evaluate the need of technology and novel scientific software, visualization tools and new approaches to computation to increase efficiency and quality of the Novartis data science practice. Contribute to the development of Novartis data management and data science capabilities.

  • Provide agile consulting, guidance and non-standard exploratory analysis of problems.

  • Independently identify research articles and reproduce/apply methodology to Novartis business problems, publish in peer reviewed journals, help organizing sessions at internal and external professional conferences and contribute to cross-industry work streams in external relevant working groups.

  • Make right choices from a breadth of tools, data sources and analytical techniques to answer a wide range of critical business questions.

  • Ensure exemplary communication with all stakeholders including senior business leaders.

  • Manage a Team of five data scientists.

  • Reporting of technical complaints / adverse events / special case scenarios related to Novartis products within 24 hours of receipt -Distribution of marketing samples (where applicable)

Role Requirements:

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in Data Science.

  • 3+ years of experience in leading teams

  • Extensive experience with programming languages like Python and R

  • Experience working in cloud environments (AWS preferred)

  • Experience in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML).

  • Data Management, Data Quality, Data Strategy, Data Visualization, Data Literacy, Big Data, Data Governance, and Master Data Management.

  • Excellent communication skills (English) and stakeholder management experience

  • People management skills and experience leading teams in complex data science projects
