Job Description

Role Overview

As an Associate Director - Data Architecture, you will provide technical leadership across data, analytics, automation and AI initiatives, translating strategy into scalable, secure and business-aligned solutions. The role combines data architecture expertise with broader solution design responsibilities, establishing standards, driving technical quality and acting as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders. Success in the role comes from balancing technical excellence, commercial awareness and people leadership while delivering reusable and scalable outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Technical Leadership

  • Own the end-to-end architecture for data, analytics, and automation solutions, ensuring alignment with business objectives and data strategy.
  • Define and maintain architecture standards, reference architectures and scalable delivery patterns.
  • Act as the technical authority for complex programmes, balancing governance, security, scalability and delivery objectives.
  • Drive architecture governance, technical assurance and quality across engagements.
  • Support the development of strategic technology roadmaps and emerging capabilities, including AI-enabled solutions.

Client & Commercial Leadership

  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders, translating business challenges into practical, scalable solutions.
  • Lead technical workshops, architecture reviews and strategic design discussions.
  • Support business development through solution design, proposals, estimation and technical presentations.
  • Identify opportunities to scale successful client solutions into repeatable services and propositions.

Capability & Practice Development

  • Develop reusable architecture patterns, accelerators and frameworks that improve delivery consistency and efficiency.
  • Support the establishment of best practice for data modelling, integration, governance and engineering standards.
  • Mentor and develop architects, engineers and BI professionals across the team.
  • Support recruitment, capability growth and continuous improvement of the architecture practice.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Experience as a Lead Data Architect, Principal Engineer or equivalent senior technical leadership role.
  • Experience designing data warehouses, data lakes, integration layers and API‑driven data sharing patterns.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud architecture principles and modern data platform technologies.
  • Experience defining data architecture, governance frameworks and operating models across complex, multi-source environments.
  • Proven ability to lead technical teams and influence senior business and technology stakeholders.
  • Strong communication, consulting and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience supporting bids, propositions and pre-sales activities.

Desirable

  • Experience developing reusable standards, architectural patterns and scalable delivery approaches.
  • Experience in real estate, construction, infrastructure or capital programmes.
  • Experience collaborating with client PMO teams to implement and govern data, analytics and technology solutions within complex programme environments.
  • Experience identifying, defining and delivering AI-enabled business solutions and use cases.
