The role partners closely with Copy, Strategy, Client Services, Medical, and Regulatory teams to ensure creative work is strategically grounded, visually distinctive, medically accurate, and appropriate for regulated environments. The Associate Creative Director (Art) also helps raise the standard of visual craft across teams by guiding creatives, reviewing work, and presenting creative thinking to senior internal and client stakeholders.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead concept development and art direction for integrated healthcare and pharmaceutical campaigns across digital, social, CRM, print, presentation, experiential, and other client-facing channels from initial brief through final delivery.
  • Direct visual quality across multiple projects and workstreams, shaping campaign systems, typography, layout, imagery, storyboards, digital experiences, and channel adaptations while maintaining consistency with strategy and brand objectives.
  • Partner with Copy, Strategy, Medical, Regulatory, and Client Services to develop ideas that balance creative ambition, audience relevance, scientific accuracy, usability, and regulatory requirements.
  • Present creative concepts, visual rationale, and campaign thinking to senior internal stakeholders and clients, responding to feedback while protecting the strategic and creative integrity of the work.
  • Mentor and guide art directors and designers through concept development, reviews, and feedback while contributing senior creative thinking to pitches, new business opportunities, and broader account growth initiatives.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 7+ years of art direction or design experience in advertising, marketing, healthcare communications, or a related agency environment, with portfolio examples showing progression from concept development through final execution.
  • Demonstrated experience leading conceptual creative work for healthcare, pharmaceutical, life sciences, or other regulated and complex clients, with examples of integrated campaigns across multiple channels.
  • Portfolio showing strong art direction across campaign concepts, visual systems, typography, layout, digital, social, CRM, presentations, and other multi-channel deliverables, with evidence of shaping overarching visual platforms.
  • Experience presenting creative work to senior internal stakeholders and clients, including explaining concept rationale, visual decisions, audience relevance, and responses to feedback.
  • Experience reviewing and directing visual work across multiple concurrent projects, including working within agency creative workflows and medical/regulatory approval processes while maintaining quality and deadlines.
  • Experience mentoring or guiding art directors, designers, or other creatives through concept development, design reviews, and feedback, with evidence of helping improve creative quality or team capability.

Desired:

  • Comfort and enthusiasm for using AI as a regular part of how work gets done.
  • Experience developing work across HCP, patient, payer, or disease awareness audiences, including adapting visual systems while maintaining strategic and medical accuracy.
  • Experience contributing senior creative thinking to pitches, new business presentations, or client growth opportunities within healthcare, pharma, or life sciences.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Keynote, and presentation design tools, with examples of using them across client-facing creative development.
  • Working knowledge of healthcare brand challenges, audience needs, therapeutic area considerations, and market dynamics, with examples of applying that understanding to visual creative work.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Advertising, Design, Art Direction, Visual Communications, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
