Position Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Associate to join our climate and nature advisory. The ideal candidate will be a recent graduate (BA or MA) with a strong mathematical and economic background, specifically focused on the energy supply sector. This role will involve interpreting, analyzing and modelling data, particularly from the International Energy Agency (IEA), Inevitable Policy Response (IPR), and the Network for Greening the Financial System (NGFS).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and analyze modelling parameters for stated policies, advanced policies, and net-zero models from IEA, IPR, and NGFS.
  • Simplify complex modelling data into key assumptions and interpolations to support economic analysis for key clients.
  • Conduct scenario analysis to assess climate risks and opportunities for clients, providing insights into implications for their business, assets and key stakeholders in the value-chain.
  • Provide expertise in modelling of energy supply assets, focusing on their exposure to price volatility.
  • Communicate findings effectively through reports and presentations, ensuring clarity and accessibility for clients.

Qualifications:

  • Recent graduate with a BA or MA or equivalent experience in Economics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Strong foundation in economic theory and quantitative analysis.
  • Capability to manipulate and interpret large datasets, ideally proficiency in R or
  • Proficiency in Excel, R, Python and/or Matlab
  • Proficiency in NLP (desired)
  • Exposure / experience in energy supply sector (oil & gas, power, renewables) – energy demand sectors such as transport, industry, buildings and agriculture welcome.
  • Develop and maintain proficiency in mathematical modelling languages to enhance analytical capabilities.
  • Knowledge of the oil and gas sector and its value chain, with an emphasis on energy supply and demand dynamics.
  • Experience or coursework related to interpreting IEA, IPR, and NGFS pathway modelling frameworks is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
