Working as a core member of Brunswick’s specialist arts team, this role informs our offer as a lead advisor and specialist campaigner for our arts and Creative Industries clients. Drawing on specialist knowledge from across the business, the Associate position leads and delivers campaign work for our Directors, inspires and energises junior colleagues and represents Brunswick Arts in the sector. 

The Arts team within Brunswick are highly collegiate. As an Associate, you will work with a range of client teams to drive execution on multi-channel campaigns, proactively developing ideas with colleagues, expanding our media network and developing the high-quality junior talent in the business.

About the Role

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Drive execution on client accounts within the arts sector, managing workflow and key elements (e.g. sharing ‘so what’ insights internally and externally in response to sector changes, running client calls, first drafts of documents, actively devising media campaigns and securing media engagement, etc.).
  • Advise arts clients across a range of issues and communications disciplines, with the support of our junior team and informing Directors/Partners, drawing on independent experience and knowledge.
  • Understand complex sector issues and the attitude of media, politicians/regulators, NGOs and other stakeholder groups.
  • Manage complex media and policy-related interactions, using advanced knowledge of media and other stakeholder landscapes.
  • Play a key role in team management and dynamics, including supporting smooth team transitions, and serving as a day-to-day mentor to junior team members.
  • Play an active role in drafting new business proposals and letters of engagement, including participating in pitch meetings.
  • Foster a network of journalist and stakeholder contacts and relationships, proactively building a network to identify new business prospects and media contacts.
  • Together with Partners and Directors, proactively drive the strategic growth of Brunswick’s arts offer to clients and internally across other relevant sectors (Tech, Media & Telecomms, Public Affairs, Litigation, etc.).
What We're Looking For
  • 7-8 years of relevant experience either working in an advisory role within the cultural sector or other, related business areas (e.g. lifestyle, luxury, etc.)
  • An understanding of the interplay between the arts, public and private funders, the public and political and regulatory stakeholders.
  • A strong sense of corporate positioning, and how to develop strategies that can translate into programs with real sustained impact.
  • Knowledge of the arts and Creative Industries sector in the UK and beyond, excellent networks and a proven track record with media – both traditional media and new channels - experience in media-handling is essential.
  • Ability to operate effectively in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment – sharing knowledge and ideas with a warm and collegiate team
  • A strong verbal and written communicator with an engaging presentation style.
  • A global perspective and able to thrive in an international businesses or organization
  • Credible and compelling with experience of working directly with senior arts or business leaders/Senior Leadership Teams.
  • A balance of creative and analytical thinking, bringing rigor, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Proven project and/or program management experience.
  • A natural team-worker who prefers to work in a collegiate way.
