OVERVIEW OF THE DEPARTMENT/SECTION

The Financial Crimes Office for EMEA (FCOE) in London is part of the Global Financial Crimes Division (GFCD) headquartered in New York. It works to ensure that our organization conducts its business such that we protect our reputation, our business, and our clients within the regulatory and legal framework. It is responsible for the establishment and maintenance of effective systems and controls to protect clients’ assets and to mitigate the risk that MUFG might be used to further financial crime.

The EMEA GFCD Quality Assurance (QA) team is located in FCOE, and organizationally resides within the Global Financial Crimes Compliance (FCC) Program Management department, and is responsible for driving QA standardization and consistency in both the first and second lines of defense through setting minimum QA standards, providing technical advisory, discharging oversight and governance, and building an effective QA execution capability.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE 

  • The individual will be responsible for advising and overseeing all QA teams (including MUFG Global Solution (MGS) GFCD QA, Branches, and the First Line of Defense) across the key financial crimes controls (AML, ABC, KYC and Sanctions) in EMEA.
  • As an Assistant Vice President in the EMEA GFCD QA GAO Team, you will work with the team to t contribute to the operation of the financial crime compliance framework.  Thus, your responsibilities and accountabilities include, but are not limited to, contributing to implementing and overseeing the QA program in a “business as usual” environment to mitigate the financial crime risks. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contributing to the delivery of output by the EMEA GFCD QA GAO function, including meeting target dates and deadlines.
  • Ensuring quality of output by the EMEA GFCD QA GAO function is maintained, including the completeness and accuracy of your work.
  • Escalating identified risks or issues to the EMEA GFCD QA GAO Lead in a timely manner.
  • Supporting the co-ordination of Regional Issues Management plans to monitor and track the resolution of QA identified issues and action plans.
  • Completing mandatory training on time, assisting the EMEA GFCD QA GAO Lead in making sure all team members complete theirs within deadlines.
  • Achieving annual personal objectives or escalating risks to achieving the annual personal objectives to the  EMEA GFCD QA GAO Lead in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining technical and non-technical personal development to meet the demands of the role.

Governance

  • Support the EMEA GFCD QA GAO Lead with drafting and distributing the Regional QA Working Group(s) (WG) report(s).
  • Contributing to, and challenging attendees in, as required, the Regional QA WGs.
  • Assisting the EMEA GFCD QA GAO Lead with drafting and distributing the Regional QA WG meeting note(s).
  • Assisting with the implementation of the  regional minimum standards for FCC QA and obtaining the approval(s)..
  • Updating the Regional Financial Crimes Office (RFCO) stakeholders on risks or issues in a timely manner.

Advisory

  • Providing FCC QA advice to the QA Managers in the Local Financial Crimes Functions (LFCF) and First Line of Defence (FLoD).
  • Obtaining FCC QA advice from the Heads of ABC, AML, and Sanctions QA, as and when required
  • Communicating the approved Global FCC QA Methodology, and global and regional minimum standards for FCC QA to the RFCO stakeholders.
  • Communicating the approved Global FCC QA Methodology, and global and regional minimum standards for FCC QA to the QA Managers in the LFCF and FLoD.
  • Contribute to the drafting of the training material on the approved regional minimum standards for FCC QA.
  • Assist with the training of the Regional GFCD QA team members, Regional MGS GFCD QA Leads, and QA Managers in the LFCF and FLoD on the approved global and regional minimum standards for FCC QA.
  • Confirming the Regional GFCD QA team members, Regional MGS GFCD QA Leads, and QA Managers in the LFCF and FLoD training attendance on the approved global and regional minimum standards for FCC QA.

Oversight

  • Executing oversight activities in accordance with the EMEA GFCD QA GAO annual plan or ad hoc requests.
  • Support the EMEA GFCD QA GAO Lead with producing and distributing QA oversight MI to GFCD QA leadership and Regional QA Working Group(s).
  • The role holder will be a role model through leading by example, and may need to support more junior members through coaching and mentoring.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Essential:

  • At least 5 years of experience within financial crimes area of a global bank, consulting firm or regulatory agency;
  • Experience in Financial Crime Compliance or Regulatory Compliance: Quality Control/Assurance Function; Testing Function and/or Internal/External Audit Function;
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Quality Control/Assurance; Compliance Testing/monitoring and/or Audit Function;
