Who You’ll Work With
The Commercial Mortgage Lending (CML) department is responsible for handling multiple types of transactions including: whole loans, syndicated loans and CMBS, with deals sizes that vary significantly from $10 million to $250 million. The team originates highly-quality mortgage loans to continue to meet the increasing demand for commercial mortgage loans.
About The Role
We are looking for an Assistant Vice President - Commercial Mortgage working in our London office. Position will understand multiple types of transactions and structure including: whole loans and syndicated loans with deals sizes and structures that vary significantly.
Responsibilities

Leads loan transaction execution process through due diligence, documentation and closing phases alongside Origination and in-house Legal teams. Requires strong transaction management and communication skills.

Prepares and presents credit memos for committee approval.

Liaising with brokers, valuers and independent research providers to understand market trends and source transaction-specific investment and rental comparables and general market data (macro and real estate) to support underwriting.

Performs cash flow, valuation and stress testing analysis using Argus, Excel and CBRG risk modelling tools.

Reviews and analyses third party due diligence reports including valuation, technical and environmental, legal property title, insurance and tax.

Performs site/property inspections.

Negotiates legal finance documentation alongside Origination and in-house Legal teams.

Manages internal loan closing processes including execution of cross-currency hedging (through CRBG Global Capital Markets team), completing pre-trade checks, arranging funding and co-ordinating hand-over to the Asset Management team;

Evaluates initial underwriting of new opportunities and assisting Origination team on loan structuring and pricing for new quotes and term sheets;

Conducts market research on macro, lending and real estate market trends for credit memos and ad-hoc internal reports and sector white papers.

Assists Asset Management team on loan modification and consent requests.

Attends industry seminars, presentations and networking events.

Skills and Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from leading university required.

Professional qualifications such as CFA are a plus.

3-6 years of relevant commercial real estate finance experience, ideally from lending and/or legal real estate finance roles.

Robust analytical skills required in addition to strong organisational, leadership and communication skills (written and verbal).

The team operates across a broad range of different loan structures (billateral whole loans, club deals, construction loans, senior/mezz, back leverage, etc.), real estate sectors and jurisdictions across Europe and on large loans ($50-$200m) for institutional Sponsors. Therefore, preference will be given for candidates with relevant experience.
