Chaperone and Assistant Specialist - Rolling Fixed Term Contract
Slough, UK (On-site role)

Based at our Slough site, this role plays a key part in supporting smooth laboratory operations by chaperoning vendors, coordinating equipment activities, and acting as a liaison between our scientists, service providers, and engineering teams.

What you will do

  • Serve as the first point of contact and chaperone for external vendors across multiple laboratory buildings.

  • Support the delivery and completion of work orders to ensure efficient and compliant service execution.

  • Assist the LET team with routine equipment-related tasks including freezer transfers, speed vacs, and HPLC waste handling.

  • Maintain equipment stock levels and manage inventory using a Kanban approach.

  • Participate in laboratory inspections and ensure follow-up actions are completed.

  • Coordinate the sending, receiving, and movement of departmental equipment.

  • Act as a liaison between scientists, service providers, and the engineering department to enable effective communication during breakdowns, maintenance, and calibration activities.

What we are looking for

  • Previous experience working in a customer facing environment is beneficial.

  • Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail.

  • Good computer literacy across standard systems and tools.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and build collaborative working relationships.

  • A proactive mindset and willingness to learn new processes and equipment procedures.

  • Ability to work on-site full time at our Slough facility.
