What we are recruiting for:

We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Project Manager to join our regional Construction business as part of our legacy team. Our legacy team are current embarking on Project Lendlease which is a programme of works across multiple schools previously constructed by Bovis (Lendlease). Bovis are currently under a regional service agreement for Birmingham Building Schools for the Future legacy works and as such we have 3nr schools all located close to Birmingham City Centre.

The project comprises of reviewing, planning and coordinating desk top works for review of alleged defects as well as on site works during out of ours and school holidays as required. The project team are currently working remotely but there may be a time where the team will relocate to a Birmingham City Centre office location.

The role of the Assistant Project Manager is to provide support to the Project Manager to ensure that the project management activities are conducted in compliance with the Project Lendlease Service Agreement and that all physical works accord with the Bovis health, safety, and environmental policies.

The Assistant Project Manager will be responsible for providing technical, commercial, and operational support, together with production of, quality, operational/site management support and managing costs whilst creating a supportive and collaborative environment, meeting client expectations.

The Assistant Project Manager will be required to support and input to effective collaboration between the design teams, project team, commercial, client teams and supply chain putting the expertise of all to the best possible use. The assistant project manager will report to the project manager and support the project lead.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Manage the project delivery within a timely manner ensure the maximum outcomes for the client and Lendlease.
  • Ensure quality is at a consistently high level and pro-actively identify quality issues.
  • Review all costs and controls.
  • Accountable for the implementation and compliance with all Bovis safety requirements across staff, contractors and work practices ensuring appropriate records are maintained and required reports are available.
  • Recognise and reward safe behaviours and practices.
  • Review the EHS plans and regularly review lessons learnt. Review the project sustainability objectives and targets ensuring compliance with Bovis standards and local regulatory and individual school requirements.
  • Build and maintain external relationships (e.g. clients, contractors/subcontracts) to increase networks and support personal development.

Skills, Knowledge, Experience, Behaviours:

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Problem solving and analytical skills for resolving planning, estimating, contract administration, and procurement issues.
  • Ability to prepare reports and work collaboratively to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Working knowledge of site health and safety regulations and procedures.
  • Demonstratable intermediate level of role knowledge gained through relevant experience.
  • Understanding of estimating, scheduling, field supervision, contract administration, procurement, financial controls and reporting.
  • Ability to build relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Proactive in maintaining the conversion program and implementing acceleration methods if the program slips.
  • Please note that due to the nature of this role, an Enhanced DBS check will be carried out for the successful candidate.
