As an Assistant Producer at Global, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the output of this world-leading classical music brand, spanning radio production and digital content production. With 4.5 million listeners every week and over 8.5 million followers on its social media channels, Classic FM is one of the world’s leading classical music radio brands. This is a fantastic opportunity to join the team and provide vital support for the day-to-day operations and play a part in creating leading content, all while gaining fantastic production experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with radio production tasks including editing, loading of music, and content planning

  • Creating and updating features and radio index pages for radio programmes

  • From time-to-time driving the desk for live programmes

  • Updating Classic FM’s playlist information for the website and Global Player app

  • Developing strong relationships with Classic FM’s radio and digital production teams

  • Editing and circulating Classic FM’s radio press schedule

  • Creating bespoke video content for social media

  • Archiving audio

What Success Looks Like

In your first few months, you’ll have:

  • Shown you understand Classic FM’s target audience and how to effectively produce engaging content for this audience

  • Demonstrated you can observe and follow the key brand guidelines

  • Been able to edit and prepare recorded audio used on-air

  • Taken ownership of a range of weekly and daily production tasks

  • Shown you can drive a desk for both live and pre-recorded programming

  • Filmed and edited social media content

  • Become skilled in using radio production systems and tools

  • Ensured timely publication of updates to the Classic FM on-air playlist, programming pages, radio index pages and press schedules

  • Developed strong professional relationships across Classic FM and Global teams

  • Demonstrated a working knowledge of the OFCOM Broadcasting Code.

What You’ll Need

  • Showing they have at least 1-2 years of hands-on radio experience

  • Demonstrating a passion for radio and a desire to learn about classical music

  • Suggesting and producing compelling digital content ideas

  • Demonstrating excellent time management

  • Working collaboratively, demonstrating excellent verbal and written communication with the team
