About the Role
As an Assistant Editor, in this role you will be managing the processing of manuscripts from submission to acceptance as well as supporting the standardization of workflows, improved efficiencies, data collection, and to support authors, editors, and reviewers.
This position is key to assisting the editors with manuscripts, and ensuring content is processed within suitable timeframes. You will be able to prioritise your workload and work to tight deadlines but will also ensure that tasks are performed with speed and accuracy.
You will play an important part in managing an efficient editorial process and standardising workflows. The nature of the role is administrative and career development in a role such as this might see you develop through different levels of editorial administration and operational management. It should be noted that this role does not include writing or editing content. If appointed you will gain great insights into the scientific operational editorial and peer review processes.
Role Responsibilities
Work with Editors to ensure Authors are supported to meet the publishing needs of the journals, and authors can adhere to editorial policy and compliance
Responsible for managing journal pipelines, by processing manuscripts from submission through to final decision
Support Editors throughout the process, creating excellent working relationships
Act as a point of contact for authors throughout the manuscript journal, building relationships and trust in our processes, striving to improve author satisfaction
Collaborate and build rapport with Journal editorial staff for continuous improvement/updates and new initiatives in the process
Handle email correspondence between the various parties involved in the publication process; (Authors, Reviewers, Editors, Guest editors, Readers, etc. for the assigned manuscript)
Mentor and support new team members
Provide inputs on improving the process to reduce TAT and manage pipeline at various stages of the editorial process

Bachelors degree or equivalent relevant experience.
