The role  

As an Assistant Accountant in our finance team, you will be working to support with daily running of the business finances within our Accounts Payable department. Within this role, you will be required to work cross functionally with internal stakeholders, owning purchase order and invoice processes and supporting with month end responsibilities.   

This is a fantastic opportunity to join an established finance department, with development opportunities to gain qualification certification, as well as working alongside several experienced and senior figures.   

Responsibilities 

As the Accounts Assistant your key responsibilities will be:  

  • Process invoices received and match against purchase orders  
  • Support Accounts Payable inbox management and respond to queries as necessary  
  • Support the Purchase Order process, educating the business and tracking approvals  
  • Track and record spend on the company credit cards  
  • Process month end journals within tight deadlines and ensure first time accuracy  
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations  
  • Process employee expenses and record in line with company policy  
  • Support month end P&L reviews with variance analysis for the management team  
  • Work with Finance Business Partners to capture latest cost forecasts and identify risks and opportunities  
  • Work discretely with confidential information  

Essential Skills & Experience Required 

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities 
  • Strong numeracy skills 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel 
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy 
  • Strong desire to pursue a career in finance and commitment to continued learning and development. This may involve further study and pursuit of professional qualifications 

Desirable Skills & Experience 

  • Experience working as part of a team 
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel 
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated, can-do attitude 

The interview process  

  • Initial conversation with our Talent Acquisition Lead, to assess against the essential skills required. 
  • 1st stage, Teams interview with the Hiring Manager.
  • Final stage, in-person competency based interview with the Hiring Manager and a wider team member.
