Your Role

As a Gensler Senior Project Architect specializing in sports and recreation projects, you will support in leading a team of architects and designers to deliver exceptional stadium and recreational facilities. You will leverage your industry experience and technical expertise to drive projects from concept through completion, with a particular focus on creating dynamic spaces that enhance the athlete and spectator experience.

What You Will Do

  • Manage client, team and project coordination, including full documentation coordination with structural, MEP, lighting, AV, landscape and civil consultants, with specific attention to sports-specific requirements
  • Lead the design and delivery of various sports facilities including stadiums, training complexes, recreational centers, and athletic venues
  • Coordinate with sports governing bodies and regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with specific requirements and standards
  • Manage project lifecycle; estimating, bidding, project kick-off, weekly coordination, punch list, turnover, opening, and project close-out
  • Support communication between project team, clients, vendors, contractors, consultants, and building and permitting officials
  • Provide technical guidance and innovative solutions to resolve complex technical and design challenges specific to sports architecture
  • Maintain project manual and specifications with particular attention to specialized sports facility requirements
  • Conduct and document site visits, process submittals, substitution requests, and RFI's during construction

Your Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Architecture
  • RIBA or ARB registered Architect
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in designing and delivering sports and recreation projects
  • Demonstrated deep understanding of sports facility design principles, including field of play requirements, sight lines, training patterns, spectator experience
  • Knowledge of international sports governing body requirements (FIFA, UEFA IOC, etc.)
  • Proficiency in Revit a must, experience in Rhino, Grasshopper, and 3Ds Max advantageous
  • Experience with the full project lifecycle, from feasibility and concept to delivery
  • Knowledge of UK building regulations, standards and building structures
  • Understanding of specialized systems for sports venues (playing surface technology, scoreboard integration, broadcast requirements)
  • Ability to develop collaborative relationships across the firm, with clients, and with other key constituents
  • Strong leadership, organizational, communication and relationship-management skills
  • Experience in sustainable design practices for large-scale sports facilities
