Your Role

As a Gensler Senior Bowl Design Architect, you will be a key technical specialist focusing on stadium bowl design and optimization. This unique role combines architectural expertise with specialized knowledge in spectator bowl geometry, sightline analysis, and seating optimization. You will work closely with project teams to create exceptional stadium experiences that maximize atmosphere, comfort, and commercial value.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the conceptual and technical design of stadium bowls across multiple projects
  • Develop and optimize bowl configurations to maximize capacity, sightlines, and atmosphere while meeting international standards
  • Create detailed seating bowl layouts including tiers, vomitories, gangways, and access points
  • Perform complex geometric calculations and sightline studies using specialized software
  • Collaborate with structural engineers to integrate bowl design with building systems
  • Evaluate bowl designs for compliance with safety regulations and governing body requirements
  • Provide expert input on premium seating locations and hospitality integration
  • Analyze crowd flow and emergency evacuation requirements
  • Coordinate with other disciplines to integrate broadcast requirements, lighting, and acoustics
  • Lead client presentations on bowl design solutions and options
  • Mentor junior staff in specialized aspects of sports architecture

Your Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Architecture
  • RIBA or ARB registered Architect – nice to have
  • Minimum 8 years' experience in sports architecture with specific focus on bowl design
  • Demonstrated portfolio of completed stadium projects
  • Expert knowledge of international sports governing body requirements (FIFA, UEFA, IOC, etc.)
  • Advanced proficiency in specialized bowl design and analysis software
  • Strong understanding of spectator viewing requirements and experience design
  • Expert knowledge of parametric design tools
  • Proficiency in Rhino is essential
  • Proficiency in Grasshopper is essential
  • Proficiency in Dynamo is essential
  • Experience with Python is desired
  • Proficiency in Revit essential,
  • Plus experience with:
    • Specialist bowl design software
    • 3D modeling tools
    • Sightline analysis programs
  • Thorough understanding of Venue design particular to:
    • Stadium and Arena design principles
    • International safety standards
    • Access and egress requirements
    • Crowd dynamics
  • Experience presenting to high-profile clients and stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication abilities and team leadership experience
