Job Title : Application Support Engineer

Division: Technology 

Reports To: Head of Application Support 

Location: London

BlueCrest is a globally renowned Alternative Asset Manager with trading offices, Datacentres, and Colocation facilities spread across the world in London, Jersey, Geneva, Singapore, Dubai, and the USA. Due to continued success we are now looking for a Application Support Analyst to come and join the App Support team in our London office reporting in to Head of Technology.

The ideal candidate will be a bright assured self starter with equally good technical and interpersonal skills. We are looking for somebody who is willing to learn (both business and technical), with the potential to take on additional responsibilities. Must have strong problem-solving ability and be comfortable being thrown in at the deep end on any system\application issue. Presentation and interpersonal skills are expected to be of a high professional standard.

Responsibilities of the role:

  • Supporting systems & applications across all areas front to back including (but not limited to) systems used for Trade Capture, Middle & Back Office operations, Static & Market data capture and distribution, Risk, PnL.
  • Confident dealing with traders and middle office, across multiple asset classes (Rates, FX, Credit, Equity etc) familiar with the trade, static and market data required in trade flow.
  • Will be responsible for performing training, user configuration and permissioning associated with on-boarding new users
  • A point of contact for any user System & Application queries and issues, ranging from simple technical tasks to complex business issue investigations. Ensuring timely resolution and good communication for all issues.
  • Form a close working relationship with development teams to communicate user requirements, identify common support issues (including root cause) and recommend changes to improve future platform supportability.
  • The role may be required to assist with some degree of testing new releases in a UAT capacity and also manage some production releases.
  • Will require a good understanding of the standard windows environment and specifically experience of supporting a complex .NET & Java application suite.
  • There may be a requirement to work staggered shifts to cover global trading times. There will be occasional weekend work. This role is a great opportunity for someone who is a self-starter, pro-active and keen to enhance their Technical and business skills set through both hands-on experience and training.

Essential Skills:

  • Supporting a varied and dynamic environment within a hedge fund\ investment bank or similar with some product knowledge in the asset classes detailed above.
  • Some experience of general SQL Server tasks. As well as a good understanding of SQL
  • Good overall IT knowledge including.NET and\or Java technologies.
  • Fault diagnosis and problem-solving skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and a pro-active attitude.

  • Market & Static data knowledge
  • The desire to pick up new skills & knowledge 
  • Control-m experience
  • Experience of Bloomberg
