Who You’ll Work With:

We are recruiting a legal assistant to work as part of the International Legal team, which comprises lawyers based in London and Nashville. You will report into the London based member of the team and assist with all aspects of the team’s responsibilities, with a focus on asset management products (UCITS and AIFs) and distribution.

The members of AllianceBernstein’s broader Legal and Compliance department work on a collaborative basis across the globe and accordingly, the candidate will also work with other members of the broader department based in London, Nashville, Luxembourg and Asia.

What You’ll Do:

Act as paralegal type assistant for all team activities including the following:

  • Drafting, reviewing and amending basic legal documents (agreements, letters, memos etc.) that relate to the creation, management and distribution of investment funds;
  • Arranging and reviewing contributions/advice to internal stakeholders, boards, committees etc including collating materials from different business units, drafting of agendas and minutes, circulating materials to stakeholders and uploading materials to internal databases;
  • Undertaking or supporting regulatory filings;
  • Collecting product and distribution data from internal teams and external resources to support regulatory filings and regulatory document updates;
  • Coordination of local legal teams supporting product and distribution activities (creating trackers and timelines, hosting calls etc.)
  • Monitoring internal approvals and related systems (e.g. Salesforce);
  • Coordination of external counsel relationships, file opening, billing etc.
  • Typing, generating, amending Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Sharepoint originated documents.
  • Assisting with diary management/set-up of meetings and other general administrative duties; and
  • Providing general support to the broader Legal team as required.

What We’re Looking For:

This is an ideal role for a proactive individual with limited experience in asset management to learn about the legal aspects of the industry at an international asset manager. The role would suit an experienced legal assistant/paralegal but also a high performing individual without legal experience, such as a recent graduate or person looking to return to work after a career break.

The candidate will need to demonstrate the following aptitudes:

  • Good attention to detail and organizational skills;
  • Ability to prioritise workload and be able to work under pressure to tight deadlines;
  • Strong interpersonal skills as the position involves extensive daily contact with staff members in the Legal and other departments globally; and
  • You must be able to communicate clearly and appropriately, both verbally and in writing.

NOTE - Whilst the role will involve legal work we cannot offer a path to a solicitors’ training contract with AB.

Qualifications required:

Preferably one of the following but we would consider candidates without one of the these if they have the right aptitudes:

  • Undergraduate degree
  • Chartered Institute of Legal Executives
  • National Association of Licensed Paralegals (NALP)
