About the Role  

The Anti-Piracy Team is part of the General Counsel’s Office; it is charged with the global protection of Springer Nature Group content and assets against piracy. The team is currently based in London, UK, and Shanghai, China, we are also currently recruiting in Delhi, India. 

 

Role Responsibilities 

  • Third-Party Takedown Programme: Optimise efficiency and impact by outsourcing NTD tasks and proposing development improvements. 

  • Data Exchange: Manage metadata and takedown data sharing between Springer Nature and third parties. 

  • Vendor Management: Chair quarterly meetings with providers, produce agendas/minutes, and oversee follow-up actions. 

  • Service Level Monitoring: Track third-party performance against contracts and ensure compliance. 

  • Test Purchases: Establish and manage systems for localised test purchases, including tracking and review. 

  • Investigations: Support and lead complex investigations as needed. 

  • Threat Anticipation: Identify and document emerging threats with the Global Head of Anti-Piracy (GHOAP), and present to senior management. 

  • Strategy Development: Assist GHOAP in designing, implementing, and refining global and business-specific anti-piracy strategies. 

  • Freshdesk Oversight: Manage query tracking and KPI compliance. 

  • Training: Help design and deliver anti-piracy training internally and externally. 

  • Cross-Training: Collaborate with other AP managers for mutual support and coverage. 

  • Knowledge Sharing: Provide expertise to enforcement agencies, trade bodies, and internal teams. 

  • Industry Engagement: Actively participate in groups like PA APWG, SNSI, STM-ETF, and represent GHOAP when needed. 

 

Key Relationships 

  • Internal: Collaborate with AP team, regional managers (China/India), legal, communications, and publishing teams to support investigations, strategy, and reporting. 

  • External: Liaise with third-party vendors, ISPs, platforms, trade bodies, law enforcement, and legal firms. 

 

Experience, Skills & Qualifications 

Essential 

  • Extensive experience in anti-piracy, IP, enforcement, or IT/internet sectors. 

  • Strong global network in enforcement and IP protection. 

  • Deep understanding of digital content services, internet/mobile tech, and consumer trends. 

  • Solid IP law knowledge (Copyright, DMCA, Ecommerce Directive); some Trademark law. 

  • Familiarity with internet infrastructure (CDNs, hosting, registrars). 

  • OSINT capabilities; cybersecurity and incident management knowledge, including firewall management, network and traffic analysis. 

  • Coding skills (Python/SQL); BI tools (e.g. Looker Studio). 

  • Understanding of crypto payments and disruption methods. 

  • Self-motivated, team-oriented, process-driven, and innovative. 

  • Strong data handling, problem-solving, and communication skills. 

  • Language skills relevant to infringement regions. 

  • Relevant qualifications or proven track record in digital/physical anti-piracy. 

Desirable 

  • Media industry experience (especially publishing). 

  • Experience managing third-party services in anti-piracy. 

  • Ongoing professional development via courses, seminars, or secondments.
