Job Title: Analytics Technology Senior Lead

BACKGROUND

Mars Inc. is embarking on a Digital Transformation journey to support our Digitization strategy, where the opportunities & implications for an Enterprise like Mars are pervasive and far-reaching. We already experience how data and technology are increasingly changing our relationship with customers & consumers, and the way we market, sell and distribute our brands, in an increasingly disruptive Digitization of Commerce. In a similar way, data and technology are going to transform the internal processes of the enterprise and allow us to overcome material limitations and barriers we got used to living with. Automating tasks to focus on what matters; being able to easily simulate results across complex scenarios; embedding self-learning algorithms in decision making to improve performance. Opportunities will be endless, with data becoming an essential asset to do business.

To support Mars Inc. in their journey, we will also need to transform our IT; renewing solutions & platforms to make them fit for Digitization (e.g. Data Management, Analytics, ERP backbone), and introducing new technologies & capabilities to push us to the front of the pack and beyond our competition (e.g. Self-Service Analytics, Predictive, Big/Agile Data insights, In-memory).

Mars has recently achieved Board approval for this exciting journey and as a result have created a number of new roles within the Digital Data & Analytics stream of this exciting program. We are building an IT team of highly skilled & experienced associates to shape our future strategies & deliver the program, supported by third parties.

THE JOB

This role will have significant interaction with senior business and IT stakeholders and will require excellent communication skills, organizational awareness and project/program management. It will require direct experience in building, deploying and delivering Digital Analytics solutions in complex, global organizations.

This role will not only lead the Analytics transformation, but will be integral to driving a more holistic strategy and direction for Mars, encompassing advanced capabilities. You will be looked to bring leading best practice, industry trends and support maturing Analytics at Mars through thought leadership & a drive for results.

KEY OUTPUTS

Define, Plan & Lead the IT Digital Technologies Program & team:

  • Lead and develop a team of 2-3 highly skilled analytics associates and 3rd party resources building & delivering the new environments & capabilities.
  • Define and lead the programs and projects required to deliver Digital Technologies Analytics across the strategic Use Cases on new IT platforms by leading a team of Use Case Project Managers. Including, resource planning and allocation, milestone & scope management, budget management and escalation/risk management for all aspects.
  • Work with business and IT stakeholders to clearly define benefits and success measures and manage the ongoing tracking & reporting of progress against these.
  • Lead the governance of scope & milestones, and coordinate necessary steering groups where escalation is required
  • Arrange & Lead workshops as necessary across Technical, Project/Program and Business Process contexts. Ensure outcomes are clearly aligned, communicated and actioned.
  • Accountability for the overall Quality of the strategic solutions delivered by the team.
  • Management of 3rd Party resources, ensuring agreed deliverables are met and necessary processes are efficiently being executed (e.g. statements of work, budget/scope approval, delivery quality metrics, etc.)
  • Support tactical governance through the duration of the program to ensure any immediate BI Solution needs not yet met by the future platforms are addressed in the most appropriate & efficient way.

Champion analytics across segments and functions

  • Identify capability gaps and avenues for analytics deployment across the global organization
  • Proactively engage key leaders and stakeholders to make case for change
  • Detect and scale opportunities for delivering business value beyond efficiency with analytics solutions
  • Navigate through all geographies, markets and segment uniqueness of Mars Inc.
  • Coordinate with the Business Transformation Office, change management / training / communications leads to oversee training cascades, refresher workshops, and ongoing in-use support

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Identify and maintain a network of key stakeholders, ensuring they are informed and/or consulted appropriately across both Business & IT. Ranging from Analyst to VP/CIO level.
  • Define and lead a broad communications strategy for Analytics Transformation across the enterprise to socialize the change and accelerate adoption.
  • Closely collaborate with IT peer groups (Services, Development, Deployment, Integration, Business Partnership, etc.) to ensure seamless transitions to not only the technology landscape but our IT Operating Model.
  • Lead IT Change management, including necessary governance, architecture & approval steps, and supporting Business Change with business counterparts
  • Work hand in hand with the Architecture function to ensure delivery remains aligned with the Enterprise Architecture strategy.

Expert Consultation/Experience

  • Act as a point of consultation for the team and others and comfortably direct activity based on your experience.
  • Ensure long term Analytics strategy work remains informed, and adjustments are made where needed based on program delivery, changing industry trends & needs of Mars.
  • Remain current with an eye to changing or emerging industry trends and feeding back to ensure Mars is leveraging the best available whilst remaining as flexible to future disruption as possible.
  • Identify new features, capabilities, and new analytical solutions available in market. Evaluate relevance and create business case for deployment

QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES

  • Direct experience in building, deploying and delivering Analytics and BI solutions in a Digital context, in a complex, fast paced, multinational business – ideally CPG but not mandatory
  • Proven Program Management & leadership experience on large matrixed organization structures, with senior influencing & stakeholder skills
  • Business Intelligence & Analytics experience and expertise across traditional Enterprise DW concepts & tools (Business Objects, Tableau, SAP HANA, Cloud Analytics platforms) & advanced/emerging capabilities (Data Lakes/Big Data)
  • Experience evaluating IT capabilities, executing & delivering an RFI/RFP selection process
  • Experienced working with and leading 3rd Party/Outsourced partners
  • Managing Vision and Purpose is critical in ensuring an appropriate and effective communication to key stakeholders
  • Strong Business Acumen of the FMCG industry (or similar) and preferably the MARS or Wrigley specifics
  • Master of Sciences degree or equivalent in engineering field / IT / computer sciences / Management
  • ITIL and/or PMI certification
