Graduate Careers at Glencore UK

Based in our fast-paced London office, our programmes are designed to accelerate the careers of outstanding graduates who have a strong commercial outlook and a genuine interest in energy commodities trading.

Our graduate roles combine structured, professional development with on-the-job experience – successful candidates will have direct exposure to the commercial teams and will be trusted to take on responsibility from day one.

The Analytics Graduate Programme

Our team of trading analysts works directly with traders, guiding their commercial strategy by providing data-driven insights into energy commodities markets.

The team evaluates fundamental global market supply and demand of commodities traded in the energy division. Successful candidates in this team will both shape traders’
understanding of market dynamics and work cross-functionally with the shipping and technology teams, developing tools to drive results across the business.

Your role

The fast-paced nature of the trading floor means no two days as a graduate analyst will be the same – however, you will be consistently called upon to provide practical solutions to complex problems using your mathematical aptitude and coding capabilities. Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Using appropriate techniques and principles to conduct pre-trade and post- trade analysis
  • Modelling of fundamental supply, demand balance and trade flow of the products traded
  • Keeping track of global oil movements through vessel tracking, and assessing how this impacts pricing of physical cargoes
  • Sitting on the trading floor, and developing models (with traders and independently) to improve forecast of fundamental and price data
  • Analyse the information collected and highlight anomalies in the market that could lead to trading opportunities.
  • Communicate results effectively with traders and senior management
  • Generate additional value using initiative, commercial innovation and entrepreneurial flair

Who we look for

We look for recent graduates with an excellent track record of individual achievement – who are interested in a challenging, exciting career in the commodities sector.

You should have an entrepreneurial approach, a deeply analytical mindset, and the capability to solve complex problems using a wide range of numerical and technical skills.

Working at Glencore requires commercial awareness, adaptability and resilience – and you will need to thrive in team environments as well as take initiative independently.

To apply to our Analytics Graduate opportunity, you should show:

  • Completion of a Bachelor’s degree to a 2.1 standard or above in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering or similar. Recent graduates and those predicted to graduate with a 2.1 or above in 2027 are welcome to apply.
  • A demonstrated interest in our work in the commodities sector, shown through some relevant experience in the Energy or Oil industries.
  • Highly numerate, with good problem-solving and analytical skills. You will be highly proficient in computer programmes like Microsoft Excel, and have experience conducting quantitative data analysis (whether through your course, extracurricular activities, or work experience).
  • Ability to code in one of the following languages is desirable (VBA, Python, SQL). Entrepreneurially minded and adaptable. Must be capable of working with significant autonomy and ensuring analysis is focused on delivering practical business benefits.
  • Logical and confident problem solver with the ability to communicate solutions clearly and for a wide range of audiences.
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills.
  • Highly motivated and organized, with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to build relationships, work in and influence a team.

Applications will close on October 9, 2026, and the successful candidate must have the right to work in the UK by the start of the placement.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, so an earlier application may lead to an earlier decision.
