Our vision is to give everyone the belief they can make their move. We aim to make moving simpler, by giving everyone the best place to turn to and return to for access to the tools, expertise, trust, and belief to make it happen.

We’re home to the UK’s largest choice of properties and are the go-to destination for millions of people planning their next move, reading the latest industry news, or just browsing what’s on the market.

The Role

Millions of people visit the Rightmove website every month. We have a huge amount of data about how people use the site, and what this means to our customers.

You’ll be at the centre of our analytics platform to help drive this, modelling and productionising high‑quality data assets in DBT on BigQuery, maintaining the semantic layer to power the insights that will impact millions of users.

Working closely with a highly collaborative and high performing team of data engineers, analysts, and product teams: you will help standardise metrics, elevate data quality, and enable self‑serve analytics so teams can move faster and smarter to drive real business impact.

Ultimately, this role would suit an analytics engineer who’s ready to take ownership of building high-quality, well-documented data models, contribute to the development of a scalable analytics layer of a modern data stack, and help shape how data is used across the UK’s favourite property site.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Model, build, and productionise robust data assets using dbt and BigQuery
  • Maintain and evolve the semantic layer in Looker to support consistent, self-serve analytics
  • Ensure data is transformed, tested, and of high quality before consumption by downstream users
  • Collaborate with analysts, product managers, and engineers to understand requirements and deliver trusted data models
  • Document and expose data assets in a way that is easy to understand and use
  • Apply and advocate engineering best practices across analytics codebases
  • Maintain the data catalogue and support a single source of truth for analytics
  • Analyse workflows and collaborate with data engineers to improve performance and maintainability
  • Be proactive in identifying opportunities to reduce complexity and cost across the data platform
  • Participate in agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, refinement, and retrospectives

We're Looking for Someone Who:

  • Has 3–5 years of proven experience in analytics engineering or data modelling, working on production-grade data models and semantic layers within a large-scale, cloud-based data platform
  • Has hands-on experience with dbt and understands modular data modelling best practices
  • Is confident writing and optimising complex SQL queries in BigQuery (or Redshift/Snowflake)
  • Has experience working with Looker (Core) and maintaining semantic layers (LookML)
  • Has worked in a production environment where data models are used to power business-critical reporting and dashboards
  • Understands the importance of documentation, testing, and version control (Git) in analytics workflows
  • Has experience working in a cloud-native environment - GCP highly preferred, also AWS
  • Optimistic, curious and gets excited by tech, enjoys keeping up with current trends. Actively gets involved and enjoys contributing to tech events
  • Is proactive, communicative, and comfortable contributing to technical discussions and design decisions
  • Brings a collaborative and curious mindset, and enjoys working in cross-functional teams
