The Role

As an Apprentice Analytics Developer, you will help manage and improve our existing analytics processes and develop new solutions and dashboards that provide insights to our stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a blend of finance, mathematics, and computer programming interests, and above all, an eagerness to learn new skills with a can-do attitude. 

Our team specialises in developing bespoke investment applications and providing tailored insights across the asset management business, typically in the form of interactive dashboards. Our expertise includes portfolio management tools such as deep dive analytics, portfolio optimisation, performance analysis, and cashflow forecasting solutions, all designed to support investment growth opportunities. Additionally, our Data Science and Digital Platform teams have created Centrali, a comprehensive digital platform, along with a suite of AI tools to enhance the capabilities and efficiency of colleagues across M&G. 

What will you be doing?

As an Apprentice Analytics Developer, you will help manage and improve our existing analytics processes and develop new solutions and dashboards that provide insights to our stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a blend of finance, mathematics, and computer programming interests, and above all, an eagerness to learn new skills with a can-do attitude. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Own and enhance existing Business As Usual (BAU) analytics processes. 
  • Assist in building, maintaining, and automating data integration and data quality processes. 
  • Query data in SQL, update dashboards, and ensure data and reports sent to end customers are accurate. 
  • Work on various aspects of solution development, including requirements gathering, data modelling, data integration, and dashboard development. 
  • Take ownership of the end product while collaborating with stakeholders to ensure deadlines are met. 
  • Build and maintain a strong network with key stakeholders in the Front Office, particularly within the Private Markets business 
  • Provide ad hoc administrative support to the wider team as needed. 
  • Attend meetings and support the implementation of internal and external projects. 

What will I need to be successful in this role?

  • Ability to manage processes and coordinating with different people 
  • High level of accuracy and good attention to detail  
  • Moderate understanding of the MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Power BI). 
  • A proactive team player who is confident about working with others but also independently and can promptly escalate any issue and work remotely where required. 
  • Logical and analytical approach coupled with intelligence, passion and a drive to learn. 
  • Ability to formulate own opinions by thinking analytically about problems, thinking “outside the box” to resolve issues where required. 
  • Exposure to data visualisation tools – e.g. Power BI, Tableau, Spotfire 
  • Strong interest in finance, mathematics, and computer programming. 
  • Eagerness to learn new skills and a proactive, can-do attitude. 
  • Basic knowledge of SQL and data querying. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. 
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

Minimum Requirements

  • Available to start the apprenticeship programme in September 2025
  • You must not be enrolled into another further education programme at the beginning of the programme
  • Be a UK citizen or have proof of your right to work in the UK
  • Living in England
  • Minimum of Grade 4 in GCSE English and Mathematics
  • Minimum of Grade C in Three A-Levels or equivalent such as BTEC Nationals

Training Provided

As a Analytics Developer Apprentice with M&G, you will undertake the Data Analyst Level 4 Apprenticeship. The apprenticeship will be delivered through a blend of live online learning, pre-recorded lectures, and face to face inductions and masterclasses

Future Prospects

This is a fixed term contract for 18 - 23 months upon which the business may decide to retain, subject to the Apprentice performance, headcount, and available funding. If recruited into a permanent role, the individual will follow the career progression applicable to the specific role/department.

Salary

£26,000 per annum plus benefits
