About Our Team

The Enterprise Data & Analytics team’s mission is to build an Elsevier-wide data-focused culture powered by strong data-management practices.  Because informed decisions lead to better outcomes. In support of this, we deliver solutions that bring data assets, governance, and technologies together. We collaborate with the business to understand their needs and requirements to ensure we deliver value and results. We support the global team in data & analytics, driving standardisation in data management, analytics, and visualisation tools. We relentlessly advocate for sharing and re-use of data, embedding a data focused culture.

About the Role

You will organise and connect the Analytics communities within Elsevier to help their members grow in their skills and confidence, and to build a better data culture across the business.  You will understand the needs of the analytics community and partner with technology to ensure the required analytics capabilities are delivered. You will articulate and encourage analytics best practice across Elsevier.  Your success will ultimately be measured by the adoption of analytics best practice and partner survey scores within the analytics community.

Responsibilities

  • Organising the analytics community globally, including regular meetings and engaging and informative communication

  • Organising the Champions programmes, e.g. for Tableau, helping to build skills and passion across the business, and improving peer-led support within teams

  • Supporting product managers and tech partners in ensuring that the analytics products, e.g. Tableau, deliver an excellent service to our users

  • Managing documentation such as FAQs and training material to ensure that it effectively supports the community’s needs

  • Handling second-tier user support with our TechDesk, including improving the resources available to TechDesk

  • Defining the rules of engagement for usage of our analytical tools.  Monitoring adherence and providing support to the business to follow best practice

  • Identifying skills gaps within the analytics community and running online training courses as needed

Requirements

  • Passion for Data & Analytics with deep knowledge of analytics and visualisation tools, such as Tableau and Snowflake.

  • Ability to inspire and enthuse groups of people from diverse backgrounds and skill levels

  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, including the ability to work effectively at other people’s level of confidence

  • Demonstrable experience in helping people develop their skills and confidence with data and analytics, ideally including technical support 

  • Excellent skills at solving problems with data, and in helping others to solve their problems with data

  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team that supports a wide range of people across a global business
