We have a new Senior Scientist role within our growing Analytical team at our Swindon manufacturing site. The Senior Scientist is responsible for project management and execution of analytical activities on our innovative Zydis Technology. With more than 20 products launched in 60 countries, it continues to be the world’s best-in-class ODT (orally dissolving tablet) technology. 
 

All work within the Analytical Development group is to be performed in accordance to cGXP requirements, including analytical investigations, adhering to project timelines and maintaining safe working conditions.
 

The Role

  • Has extensive knowledge of use and operation of all commonly used laboratory equipment, including but not limited to chemical, chromatographic and physical evaluation of pharmaceutical dose forms.
  • Represent Analytical Development as a customer contact (via email, phone, teleconferences and face to face) demonstrating customer focus, negotiation and flexibility skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously on analytical testing including work in support of process development & validation, stability batch release, clinical batch release, analytical method development and analytical method validation.
  • Technical expert and coach.  Accountable as lead technical support within the Analytical Development team and interface with internal and external customers.
  • Subject matter expert (SME) and Analytical lead on development projects, including knowledge share and mentoring of junior staff.
  • Takes ownership for the planning, reviewing and co-ordination of daily activities related to development projects they lead, including input into the maintenance of the capacity plan.
  • Champions technical continuous improvements in line with industry standards and best practice, utilizing LEAN techniques such as 6 sigma and 5S.
  • Drive innovation and research into new technologies - product and equipment based.
  • Lead improvements and efficiency drives within the Analytical Development team, with support of training activities.
  • Contribute to site initiatives both departmental and cross functional.
  • Support ‘Audit readiness’ both internal and external performing data and CMC section reviews and maintenance of archiving.  Represent the laboratory in audits.
  • Co-ordinate and lead After Action Reviews (AARs) following major campaigns driving continuous improvement and implementation of any actions arising.

The Candidate:

  • Science graduate or higher Chemistry related degree OR equivalent experience
  • Extensive experience working within an industrial Research and Development laboratory 
  • Confident in a client facing role essential
  • Experiencing leading Projects
  • HPLC experience – Essential 
  • Previous mentoring experience (advantageous)
  • Method development/method validation (essential)
  • Report writing (essential)
