MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE 

  • Trade Finance Middle Office – Supply Chain Finance are responsible for acting as first point of contact on transactions which need special or complicated handling, uncommitted deals that have not been accepted by a Front Office and which need pricing/agreement. This will include management of the supply chain finance loan portfolio (on boarding of suppliers/buyers/investors, tracking/distribution of funds, agreeing of rates, sub participation, ‘referral’ deals, revaluation activity, deals under default arrangements, uncommitted deals, alternative funding deals, or deals with features or handling that cannot be readily handled in core processing systems without intervention.
  • Trade Finance Middle Office – Supply Chain Finance will engage with Front Offices when on-boarding new deals, advise and suggest structures which can be handled, and where appropriate establish processes and handling to manage exceptional items, and co-ordinate internal stakeholders. This could include performing key operational analysis, documenting requirements, producing process flows, standard operating procedures and supporting line managers with operational documentation.
  • The team will actively monitor for scheduled and unscheduled events on the loan portfolio which need handling not covered by Loan Participation team and which may require additional intervention or support and where needed provide instruction to the loan participation team in order that they are able to process these items.
  • Trade Finance Middle Office – Supply Chain Finance will also act as an escalation points for the Loan Participation team when any issues arise that may be unclear or need ongoing engagement and investigation to resolve.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Completion of daily obligations in accordance with Facility Agreements, Head Office rules, and regulations.
  • Responsible for the accurate input of work, and verification of transactions.
  • Proactively manage events related to portfolio of Facilities, including fee and loan related claims, calculations, advices, rate-fixing, and settlements.
  • Provide assistance, as requested, to line management in the control of daily work flows to ensure timely completion of daily obligations.
  • Escalation to Line Management of any issues that may affect a particular facility or event.
  • Ability to locate and use simple clauses in the Facility Agreement to determine appropriate actions
  • Provide general support to facilitate the implementation of projects as and when necessary
  • Communicate and negotiate with a variety of Stakeholders, including Front Office, Lenders and Borrowers in order to administer events on a portfolio of loans.
  • Build relationships throughout MUFG to establish a peer network, gather relevant information and help to ensure effective inter-departmental collaboration.
  • Operate as product specialist providing subject matter expertise where required.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Preferred: Some experience of Loan Operations or Supply chain related lending

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Functional / Technical Competencies:

Essential

  • Good understanding of deal structures, triggers and limits to ensure accurate registration of facility and monitoring of conditions.
  • Solid understanding of lending products to track limits and utilisations for potential credit line breaches, escalation and reporting.
  • Solid understanding of deal lifecycles (Rollovers, rate fixing, Repayments, Maturity events etc.) and trigger monitoring (borrower rating changes etc.).
  • Good understanding of deal structures and flows including operational workability and system capture.

Education / Qualifications:

  • Minimum GCSE or Equivalent
