Job Description

This role is in CDPQ’s London office. The incumbent supports the team in achieving their business objectives by carrying out the various steps involved in the infrastructure debt investment analysis process and playing an active role in the careful monitoring of projects, contributing to the management of CDPQ’s investment opportunities, helping to improve portfolio performance and promoting collaboration and teamwork.

The Infrastructure Financing team finances, through senior or mezzanine debt, major infrastructure projects around the world, including transportation infrastructure (roads, ports, highways, etc.) renewable and transition energy projects and social and digital infrastructure.

Transactional experience in private equity, infrastructure or investment banking is a prerequisite for this position. The analyst will support the team in carrying out quality transactions for CDPQ, based on selected return and risk criteria. The successful candidate will also help monitor the investment portfolio under their responsibility and foster collaboration and teamwork.

What you will do

  • Conduct research and fundamental analysis supporting the due diligence review of investment opportunities (project/asset, sector/market, quality of management, ability to create value, growth potential, risks, etc.).
  • Prepare investment recommendations and present to decision-making bodies.
  • Conduct modelling for investment opportunities.
  • Review, analyze and contribute to negotiating legal documentation related to investments in compliance with CDPQ’s standards and instructions (letters of offer, credit agreements, prospectuses and other credit documents).
  • Monitor changes in the quarterly and annual financial results of portfolio projects.
  • Produce the required documentation required to monitor portfolios files (synopsis sheets, financial and valuation models, internal risk ratings).
  • Anticipate situations of files underperforming.
  • Develop effective analysis, search and monitoring systems.
  • Offer assistance to other team members to achieve expected results.

What you bring

  • One to two years of experience in credit or equity investment, investment banking or corporate finance, preferably in the infrastructure sector
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting or a related discipline; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be taken into consideration
  • Solid experience in financial analysis and modelling
  • Studies related to the CFA program and/or FRM, an asset
  • Proficiency in software programs and databases used in the financial market (Office suite, Bloomberg, Capital IQ)
  • Good knowledge of project financing and/or infrastructure and companies
  • Proficiency in French and English, both written and spoken
