About the role

The Discretionary Middle Office is responsible for ensuring the operational control environment for our Discretionary business runs efficiently, accurately, and in a highly controlled manner.

As an Analyst, you will run key operational processes independently while continuing to develop broader technical and operational expertise in real estate operations. Managing daily cash reconciliations, performing rigorous oversight of quarterly NAVs produced by Fund Administrators, and analysing property-level valuations alongside the front office will be core to the role.

Contributing to the evolution of the team's core processes and identifying solutions to ongoing operational requirements will also be key to your individual growth.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily reconciliation of cash breaks, investigating and resolving exceptions promptly to ensure the accuracy of fund records.
  • Review and constructively challenge quarterly Net Asset Values (NAVs), liaising directly with the fund administrator on NAV preparation as well as recurring investor reporting.
  • Collaborate closely with external valuation agents to assist in producing quarterly real estate valuations and conducting detailed analysis of these valuations.
  • Partner with the front office investment team to deliver property-level reporting and granular valuation analytics.
  • Respond to detailed investor queries, demonstrating the ability to articulate and explain complex valuation movements clearly and confidently.
  • Invoice payment processing for property and fund costs, ensuring strict adherence to all internal controls and anti-fraud policies.
  • Review of UK GAAP and IFRS financial statements and overall management of the year-end audit cycle.

Technical Development

  • Contribute to the team's continuous improvement of systems, controls, and workflows to mitigate operational risk.
  • Learn and utilize reporting and data tools to enhance team processes, property-level analytics, and automation initiatives.

Stakeholder Engagement

Collaborate with team members, front office investment professionals, and external partners (fund administrators, valuation agents, auditors) in both daily activities and long-term projects.

Communicate findings, reporting data, and recommendations clearly to various internal and external stakeholders, acting as a reliable representative of the Middle Office.

Technical Competencies

  • 0 to 3 years of professional experience, with a strong motivation to build a career in investment operations.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to solve complex problems and analyse valuation metrics.
  • Keen attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a highly collaborative part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills and the confidence to raise questions, challenge data, and explain complex concepts.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new concepts quickly.
  • Strong academic background in an analytical or finance-oriented field (Finance, Accounting, Real Estate, Economics, Mathematics, or similar disciplines).

Advantageous (but not required)

  • Previous exposure to the financial services industry, particularly developing a working knowledge of real estate operations, property valuation, or fund accounting.
  • Professional qualifications (accountancy qualifications, CFA, CAIA) or actively studying towards them.
  • Basic programming knowledge (e.g., Python, SQL, advanced Excel) with an enthusiasm to develop technical skills.
