About the Role:
We are seeking an Alation Developer to support the rollout and optimization of Alation’s data cataloguing capabilities as part of a broader Data Governance transformation. Working within a cross-functional team, you will be responsible for implementing metadata ingestion, enabling data discovery, and integrating Alation with existing data and governance ecosystems. This role supports one of our key enterprise clients across Europe.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, configure, and maintain Alation Data Catalog, including metadata ingestion, custom workflows, and user roles
- Collaborate with data governance leads, stewards, and SMEs to define business glossaries, policies, and workflows
- Integrate Alation with data platforms (Snowflake, BigQuery, Azure, etc.) and DG tools
- Enable lineage, data profiling, and stewardship visibility across core datasets
- Provide training and documentation to enable business adoption and self-service usage
- Support data quality and governance initiatives by aligning catalog strategy with enterprise data architecture
- Drive automation and API-based extensions where applicable
Required Skills & Experience:
- 4+ years in Data Governance or Metadata Management roles
- 2+ years of hands-on Alation experience (including configuration, integration, and workflow enablement)
- Strong technical proficiency in metadata ingestion, REST APIs, and connector configurations
- Proven ability to collaborate across business and technical teams
- Experience with SQL, Python scripting, or similar for catalog automation
- Familiarity with data governance tools, frameworks, and catalog best practices
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
