DP World, the fast growing transportation and logistics leader that currently manages more than 10% of world trade, is expanding its Freight Forwarding network in Bulgaria.
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Air & Ocean Operations Specialist to join our growing Freight Forwarding team, based in Varna. This dual-role position is responsible for the efficient coordination and execution of both air and sea freight shipments, ensuring timely deliveries, regulatory compliance, and optimal client satisfaction. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in the end-to-end logistics cycle, from pricing and booking to tracking and invoicing.
Your Responsibilities:
Ocean Freight Operations:
• Coordinating and scheduling sea freight transportation, including booking cargo with shipping lines and carriers.
• Monitoring shipment status and proactively resolving delays or issues to ensure on-time delivery.
• Preparing and managing shipping documentation (e.g., bills of lading, shipping manifests, customs paperwork).
• Ensuring regulatory compliance and adherence to international sea freight standards.
• Collaborating with internal teams, carriers, and external stakeholders to optimize shipping processes.
• Continuously seeking improvements in efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Air Freight Operations:
• Generating accurate and competitive air freight quotes through thorough pricing and procurement processes.
• Negotiating rates with airlines, agents, and carriers to ensure cost-effective solutions.
• Processing transport orders via the Transportation Management System (TMS).
• Coordinating air/rail/truck/sea cargo pickups and deliveries for export/import flows.
• Securing space reservations with airlines/agents and issue shipping/delivery instructions.
• Ensuring proper handling of hazardous, restricted, or prohibited items and client documentation.
• Monitoring transport progress, advising clients on customs requirements, and communicating shipment updates.
• Validating transport documents, reporting discrepancies, and confirming delivery (CMRs) to stakeholders.
Cross-Modal Duties (Air & Sea):
• Providing excellent customer service by addressing inquiries, updates, and concerns.
• Maintaining accurate, real-time updates in TMS and ensuring cost estimates are correctly entered.
• Managing timely and accurate closure and invoicing of files to meet KPIs.
• Reviewing and approving agent/supplier invoices aligned with agreed terms.
• Supporting the Sales team by identifying market trends, providing insights, and helping with client acquisition/retention

Your Profile:
• Minimum 2 years of previous work experience in freight forwarding operations or logistics (sea and/or air, with both being ideal).
• Completed secondary education (higher education is a plus).
• IATA certification preferred but not mandatory.
• Strong knowledge of documentation, shipping procedures, and international trade regulations.
• Proficient in MS Office and Transport Management Systems (TMS).
• Excellent communication abilities in both Bulgarian and English.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to high service quality.
• Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities or client needs.
• Problem-solving mindset, capable of identifying and implementing pragmatic solutions.
