About Robin AI

Robin AI is on a mission to rebuild the legal industry — starting with making contracts simple for everyone. We are a pioneer in Legal AI, built on proprietary models, licensed data, and deep partnerships with Anthropic and AWS. Since 2019, we’ve expanded our footprint to 4 continents and have been supporting many of the world’s most successful businesses, including GE, Pfizer, KPMG, and UBS.

What will you do as a research intern?

You will experiment with cutting edge research on how to best solve pressing issues surfacing in the legal domain. Your work will have direct user impact, as the end goal will be to deploy your shiny new techniques in our Robin AI platform, as well as publishing your work in a top tier venue. You will get to collaborate with other researchers, lawyers and an array of cross-functional roles, to create applied research methods covering a variety of topics (RL, agentic workflows, interpretability, automatic evaluation and more!)

Your day-to-day responsibilities:

  • Staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI and legal tech research.

  • Writing technical documentation for implemented methods and approaches.

  • Creating proof-of-concept implementations to validate research ideas.

  • Building large scale data pipelines, running and tracking experiments using your methods of choice.

  • Contributing to the development of evaluation metrics and benchmarks.

  • Collaborating with other researchers, engineers, product managers, designers and lawyers to make sure your approach and techniques solve real world problems for our users.

  • Documenting your findings either through blog posts or research papers.

  • Presenting research findings and progress updates to the team.

Ideally, you should have the following qualifications:

  • MSc or PhD in NLP, multi-agent systems, reinforcement learning, ML optimisation, interpretability or related fields.

  • Experience working with LLMs, or research experience in NLP, RL (reinforcement learning), multi-agent systems.

  • Have contributed top publications in the past. Even better - at least one publication accepted in top tier conferences or venues (NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, TMLR, etc).

  • Experience (or desire to be) working in multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Quick to prototype or implement techniques mentioned in papers.

What’s in it for you

  • Salary: £45,000 - £65,000

  • Annual leave: 25 days PTO, in addition to the bank holidays observed in the UK, pro-rated.

  • Growth opportunities: We prioritise promotions for high performers and help you to progress your career.
