About hyperexponential (hx)

At hyperexponential, we’re building the AI-powered platform that enables the world’s most critical decisions in a $7 trillion industry: which risks to take, and how to price them. These are the decisions that shape real-world outcomes: whether rockets successfully launch into space, autonomous vehicles make it to market, or communities recover after major storms.

Until now, insurance has been making billion-dollar decisions using outdated tools. We’re changing that. Our platform brings together data, AI, and human expertise to give insurers the fastest path from submission to decision, helping them move faster, act smarter, and take on more risk with confidence.

Backed by a16z, Highland Europe, and Battery Ventures, we’re scaling globally, already trusted by nearly 50 of the world’s largest insurers, with zero churn and billions in premiums flowing through hx.

What began as a single product in one market has rapidly evolved into a multi-product, multi-territory platform powering every stage of pricing and underwriting. AI is at the core of what we do, from building the world’s first domain-specific AI peer programmer for insurance (think GitHub Copilot with a PhD in actuarial science) to shaping agentic workflows that reinvent how this industry operates.

What makes hx different is the people who build it. Here, impact isn’t tied to title or tenure; it’s defined by the challenges you take on and the discipline you bring. Surrounded by peers who stretch you, you’ll do the best, hardest work of your life in a company engineered to endure.

If that sounds like you, join us in building what comes next.

About the AI Team

The AI Team plays a central role in how hx builds and scales production-grade AI. We work across three tightly connected groups: Research (frontier ML), Agents (customer-facing AI products), and AI Platform (the services powering our agents). Our job is to bring clarity, coordination, and operational discipline to an area of the business where tight execution matters.

hx has already reached product market fit. Our AI agents are live with enterprise customers and generating real value, which means the focus is shifting from zero-to-one into the scale phase. This role sits at the heart of that transition, helping the team move faster, align better, and deliver consistently.

In this team, you’ll build the systems, processes, and communication rhythms that keep complex initiatives running smoothly across research and engineering. It is a unique opportunity to shape how a fast-growing AI organisation operates as it scales.

What you’ll be doing
  • Drive the AI organisation’s shift from early wins to repeatable scale, helping take agents from zero-to-one prototypes into robust, production-ready systems.

  • Create clear communication and planning systems so teams always understand priorities, ownership, progress, and next steps.

  • Coordinate cross-team execution across Research, Agents, and AI Platform, surfacing dependencies early and keeping delivery tightly aligned.

  • Design and embed operational frameworks that support both research exploration and the software development lifecycle, giving teams a consistent rhythm for planning, experimentation, and delivery.

  • Structure research paths and decision points by defining success signals and guiding transitions from exploration into focused build efforts.

  • Identify risks early and instil the habits, processes, and rituals that reduce ambiguity, maintain momentum, and enable high-value delivery across the organisation.

What you’ll need to have done
  • Built structured operational systems that improved clarity, communication, and execution quality, including documentation, communication mechanisms, and team rituals.

  • Managed complex cross-team initiatives in AI or engineering environments, coordinating multi-disciplinary contributors, surfacing dependencies early, and maintaining a predictable operational cadence.

  • Taken ownership for unblocking teams and keeping work organised, thriving in roles where precision, structure, and detail are essential to moving fast without losing alignment.

You’re unlikely to thrive here if
  • You prefer high-level thinking and find detailed operational work tiring or unimportant.

  • You feel comfortable when processes remain loose or ambiguous as long as momentum is maintained.

  • You dislike documentation, structure, or maintaining clear information systems.

  • You prefer loosely defined roles or struggle in environments that expect precision, clarity, and constant organisation.

  • You would rather shape vision than build the operational discipline that turns vision into reality.

If reading our Culture Document leaves you feeling neutral rather than energised, hx may not be the place where you’ll do your best work. We’re building something that asks for commitment and conviction, and we want you to feel excited by the opportunity to grow with us.

Compensation

Because we’re building at the intersection of technology/SaaS and insurance, our roles don’t always map neatly onto traditional benchmarks. Our approach is to design compensation that’s competitive in the market, fair across teams, and aligned with the impact our people make.

Equity: We offer equity across all roles at hx, making it a significant component of total compensation. Your talent partner will be able to share more details about this.
