Intern will work on identifying automation opportunities and developing AI prototypes across multiple functions to enhance AI literacy and culture within OakNorth.

We’re looking for a technically strong, highly motivated AI Implementation Intern to join OakNorth’s AI Centre of Excellence. You’ll work across 2–3 UK functions to identify automation opportunities, build business cases, develop AI prototypes, and help teams adopt AI responsibly and effectively. This is a role for someone passionate about solving real operational problems and driving AI culture across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research and map workflows, identify inefficiencies, and build business cases using the Eliminate-Simplify-Automate approach.
- Lead the design and prototype AI/automation solutions using LLMs, Python, Power Automate and Custom GPTs.
- Document learnings, templates, and reusable components to scale solutions across teams.
- Support and deliver demos, trainings, and workshops to improve AI literacy and support the AI Champions network.
- Research emerging AI trends, tools, and startups; assess suitability with CoE, Risk, and Technology.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Knowledge of AI technologies, including LLMs, machine learning, natural language processing, and automation.
- Ability to translate AI research into real-world banking solutions.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with startups and senior management.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s/Master’s in AI, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related fields.
- Knowledge of LLMs, ML, NLP, Python, vector search, workflow automation, or Power Automate.
- Ability to translate AI concepts into real-world applications.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-engagement abilities.
- Curiosity, initiative, and a passion for emerging technology.
- Comfortable working independently and across multiple teams in a fast-paced environment.
