LGG is looking to expand its Digital & AI team with an AI Engineer who will work with clients in the development of Agents and LLM-based solutions for the financial services industry. This role is designed for an intermediate-level professional with 3–5 years of experience who is ready to contribute to production AI initiatives while continuing to grow technical depth and solution ownership.

Description

  • Join LGG Advisors’ growing Digital & AI team, with offices in Porto, Lisbon, London and Madrid.
  • Help leverage large language models (LLMs, MCPs) and state-of-the-art AI frameworks to develop scalable AI applications.
  • Work in dynamic, fast-paced environments with strong learning, mentoring and development opportunities.
  • Contribute to client-facing AI solutions for the financial services industry, collaborating closely with senior engineers, consultants and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Research, evaluate and test new AI technologies, tools and frameworks under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Stay up to date with AI advancements and help apply relevant methods to client and internal projects.
  • Support AI projects including chatbot development, process automation, AI agents and LLM-based applications.
  • Contribute to the design, implementation and deployment of AI solutions, following established architecture and engineering standards.
  • Develop and maintain AI applications in Python utilizing large language models and related AI frameworks.
  • Debug, test and improve AI software components for reliability, maintainability and performance.
  • Craft, test and refine prompts, chains and workflows to improve LLM effectiveness and user experience.
  • Build and maintain REST APIs with integrated AI features.
  • Collaborate in agile environments with engineers, consultants, product owners and client stakeholders.
  • Take ownership of assigned deliverables, escalating risks and dependencies when needed.
  • Communicate clearly with team members and stakeholders, documenting technical work and project decisions.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Fluency in English at a proficient level; education or work experience in an English-speaking environment is a plus.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in Machine Learning, Data Engineering, Software Engineering or related technical roles, including hands-on experience developing and debugging Python applications.
  • At least 1 year of practical experience building, deploying or maintaining LLM-based systems or AI-enabled applications in production or production-like environments.
  • Hands-on experience with AI frameworks such as Anthropic Claude Agent SDK, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, LangChain Workflows or similar.
  • Good understanding of prompt engineering practices and practical approaches for improving LLM outputs.
  • Working knowledge of large language model architectures, capabilities, limitations and common application patterns.
  • Experience using Pydantic or similar tools for data validation, configuration management or structured outputs.
  • Familiarity with AI-driven engineering assistants such as Claude, GitHub Copilot or Gemini CLI.
  • Basic to intermediate familiarity with one or more cloud services and related infrastructure, such as AWS, Azure or GCP.
  • Experience working in agile, project-oriented environments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, analytical thinking and willingness to learn in a fast-moving AI landscape.

Differential

  • Familiarity with workflow automation tools such as n8n, Make, or Zapier.
  • Exposure to financial services, consulting environments or regulated industries.
  • Experience contributing to evaluation, monitoring or testing approaches for LLM-based applications.
