SS&C is the largest global investor service provider, servicing more than 55 million investors. Investor servicing is offered in many different countries, including the U.S., Canada, U.K., Ireland, Luxembourg, Australia, Hong Kong and Singapore.

SS&C also services mutual fund structures in many other fund domiciles. 
Global Investor and Distribution Solutions (GIDS) is the business unit offering this role. GIDS delivers global omni-channel investor servicing, including contact centre, using digital services.

About the Role

Opportunity for an Actuary to support a specialist Actuarial Software Development team leading the product development of our highly regarded calculations and illustrations software.  

The role is to support all aspects of the software development working primarily, but not uniquely, within the pensions arena. This includes identifying new opportunities, working closely with our clients to elicit and specify requirements, drafting technical specifications for the Actuarial development team as well testing, deploying and supporting our solutions once live.

The role combines the analytical skills of an Actuary with the business understanding of a business analyst, applying them to the design and development of software used for actuarial calculations within the insurance industry.
The role requires a good understanding of actuarial principles and financial modelling combined with excellent communication, planning and relationship management skills.

This is a Hybrid working position with required travel to one of our UK offices (ideally Surbiton but other SS&C Office locations in the UK will be considered).

Your Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the Calculations/Illustrations Product Roadmap 
  • Proactively seek new market and client opportunities 
  • Lead allocated client driven projects and initiatives working to specify requirements, drafting technical specifications for the Actuarial development team as well testing, deploying and supporting our solutions and clients once live.
  • Ensure robust estimation process in place for new projects and ensure robust process in place for managing projects and resource from inception to successful completion
  • Oversee best practice and own methodology for specification and testing of the actuarial software
  • Keep up to date with all forthcoming regulatory changes to ensure products continue to meet client needs
  • Own the relationship with relevant industry bodies and be a thought leader within the industry
  • Coach and support wider team members

Your Experience

  • Qualified actuary (desirable) or part qualified actuary
  • 10 yrs plus Life & Pensions/FS relevant industry experience
  • Deep technical UK Pensions and Regulatory knowledge
  • Financial modelling and testing experience
  • Experience of working as part of multi-disciplinary change projects
  • Client Relationship Management (desirable) 
  • Resource Planning & People Management (desirable)
