Our Actuarial teams play a key role in helping us deliver on our strategy. Whether your focus is pricing, reserving, modelling or another area we believe in allowing our colleagues to work in a way that suits them. Giving them the time and freedom to keep our customers at the heart of every decision.

We are looking for an actuarial analyst to join our UK Actuarial team. As actuaries, we are the problem solvers of the business. We use our mathematical skills to quantify the probability and risk of future events. Helping the business plan for the future and navigate an increasingly changing world.

This is a broad and ideal development role in which you will collaborate with many other teams and enjoy significant exposure to our senior leadership and access to Bupa’s growing global actuarial network.

What you'll be doing…

  • Leverage our wealth of customer data to analyse historic trends and better understand the drivers of customer behaviour and claiming patterns. You are free to use a variety of statistical methods and machine learning techniques, the possibilities are limited only by your imagination.

  • Develop and run actuarial valuation models to set our technical provisions and project future cashflows. Feeding into our quarterly IFRS17 and SII reporting deliverables.

  • Calculate the Solvency Capital Requirement and perform an assessment of our Economic Capital. Informing strategic decision making and ensuring that our business is making the most efficient use of its resources.

  • Setting key actuarial assumptions, comparing actual performance against expectations, and building a feedback loop to ensure that our projections are as accurate as possible.

  • Produce a range of management reporting, which will contribute to key planning and strategy discussions, helping our leaders to confidently steer the business.

  • Ensure that our work meets the highest standards with effective controls and governance. Helping protect our data and our customers.

  • Work with other colleagues within the reserving, planning, pricing, underwriting, risk, finance and group teams. Building a culture of trust, collaboration and creativity.

Who we are looking for…

  • Actuarial student with 3-7 exam passes (e.g. IFoA).

  • General or Health Insurance background.

  • Previous experience in actuarial reserving, reporting and/or capital.

  • R, SAS, ResQ, Psicle or Re-Metrica software knowledge is an advantage, but not essential.

  • Proactive mindset and ability to work independently.

  • Ambition and drive!
