Job Description

Location: Weybridge (UK) – Hybrid working supported – remote working can be discussed

Inventory Accountant

Reporting to the Accounting Manager and working closely with a small collaborative team of Accounting professionals, you will be responsible for the management of the raw materials good receipt process. You will be responsible for margin control, review of inventory positions and reconciliation of open purchase orders relating to our raw material purchase. In addition you will be responsible for Intercompany recharges from a central holding company to 30 operating entities.

The position offers a great opportunity to deliver process improvements, help strengthen the control environment and work on reconciliation and automation of current accounting processes whilst reducing risk.

Key Accountabilities

  • Post goods receipts for our primary raw material (timber) purchase orders based on information from the procurement department
  • Post GRs on new pallet manufacturers purchase orders
  • Create monthly reports and analysis of purchases and sales of timber, with the purchase/ sales price and usage
  • Review aging goods received not invoiced balances to identify overdue balances, working with procurement to reduce risk
  • Reconciliation of invoices and assisting in the event of invoice queries
  • Report on margins, hire stock and Capex
  • Support the full year close process and help the submission process for external auditors
  • Support the asset accounting team with Hire Stock reconciliations between different SAP modules
  • Manage Intercompany Rentals and Lost Equipment recharges 
  • Prepare monthly Intercompany Hire Stock Imports and Exports schedules
  • Execute financial accounting tasks, including monthly close, Hyperion load checks and journal creation
  • Perform valuation of hire stock disposals and impairments
  • Provide additional support to the Accounting FA Manager as needed

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a relevant discipline or in place of a degree studying/ part qualified in a recognized Accounting qualification (AAT, ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Part/ Qualified by experience considered

Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience of Asset/ Inventory Accounting preferably using SAP Inventory module
  • Able to manipulate large amounts of data using Microsoft Excel
  • Confident to summarize and present complex financial data in a way that is concise and easily understood by a non-finance audience
  • Proactive and collaborative in working with different stakeholders in a matrix company
  • Experience working with internal and external auditors
  • A process improvement mindset or experience automating processes/ reports
