Job Description

We are looking for an experienced, commercially driven Account Manager to join our UK Public Sector team. This is a role for someone who has done this before, someone who knows how to hold senior relationships, spot opportunity within an account, and has a genuine track record of growing revenue, not just protecting it.

You will take ownership of and develop an existing portfolio of customer accounts across the public sector in a way that delivers sales and growth targets, maximises revenue whilst delivering the highest level of customer service.

The role will be part of a successful team focused on UK Public Sector opportunities. The team is made up of sales people, who generate new opportunities and/or lead on responses to large government tenders and Account Managers who manage opportunities into the existing customer base.

Core responsibilities

  • Drive account growth through identifying and converting new opportunities within existing accounts. Ensure we realise the expected revenue from contracted opportunities.  
  • Own a rolling 24-month account horizon for your customer, understanding their strategy, mapping opportunities ahead of them arising, and proactively shaping plans so Version 1 is positioned as their go-to partner
  • Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction in line with company targets.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships at senior and executive levels within your accounts, ensuring Version 1 has visibility and influence at the right decision-making levels.
  • Prepare and lead  Quarterly Business Reviews (QBR’s) for your customers, ensuring they are effective and that actions are followed through.
  • Prepare, present, and deliver Version 1 propositions to customers and be confident in your ability to do this virtually and in person.
  • Contribute to bid strategies to maximise winning opportunities. Being diligent in the pre-qualification process to ensure all customer sales opportunities and bids are fully qualified and viable. Obtain customer and partner endorsements including case studies, win wires, press releases.
  • Collaborate effectively with a variety of internal teams; Delivery, Partner Account Managers, Commercial Operations to ensure seamless execution for our customers.
  • Travel regularly to Version 1 and customer sites across the UK and Ireland to build, invest and create strong relationships

Qualifications

What we’re looking for

  • A proven Account Manager – you will have done this role before, in a technology services or IT consultancy environment, and will be able to point to accounts you have managed and grown, with multi million-pound targets.
  • Experience of managing relationships at Director level within complex organisations, with the confidence and credibility to operate at that level
  • A demonstrable track record of growing account revenue.
  • Awareness of Public Sector procurement and government frameworks
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and motivate people at multiple levels to deliver what you need on time and with high quality.
  • Confident completing tenders and internal documentation to a high standard using Microsoft Office.
  • Sound  commercial awareness and understanding of project and business dynamics
  • Ability to prioritise effectively and work to tight deadlines.
