As ABB’s Account Manager for the UK Paper Sector, you will own and develop a portfolio of key customer relationships, driving profitable growth in line with business targets. You’ll act as the primary point of contact for UK paper customers, ensuring their needs are understood and represented within ABB while coordinating effective collaboration across divisions and business areas. This role combines strategic account development with hands-on sales responsibility, giving you the opportunity to shape ABB’s presence and performance in a key industrial sector.

Your Role and Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll help run what runs the world by taking on meaningful work that drives real impact.

Work model: Fully remote (with UK travel) {#LI-remote}

  • Develop a detailed understanding of the UK paper sector, including government policy, customer investment plans, market dynamics, and competitive trends. Become ABB’s sector champion and provide regular updates to UK & Cluster Management.

  • Build and nurture strong relationships with key stakeholders across major UK accounts. Maintain player maps and document sales activities in Salesforce.

  • Lead and deliver selected initiatives within the IAPI UK service growth strategy, including action plans, ownership, and timelines. Report progress to the Industry Lead for Paper UK and Division Management.

  • Collaborate closely with colleagues within your Business Line to drive the growth strategy and encourage aligned behaviours across the organisation.

  • Work with adjacent and clustered ABB business units to deliver customer-focused, cross-portfolio solutions. Advocate for customer needs and support sales or issue resolution beyond your own BL.

  • Provide accurate sales forecasts at least twice per month using Salesforce and local funnel-management processes.

  • Own and grow your sales pipeline within assigned accounts, achieving annual sales targets agreed with Local BL & Cluster Management.

  • Develop account plans and sales plans using approved ABB processes and tools.

  • Demonstrate behaviours aligned with ABB’s Code of Conduct and The ABB Way, with Health, Safety, and Integrity at the forefront of everything you do.

Qualifications for the Role
  • Relevant engineering degree or equivalent experience

  • Strong background in sales and/or service ideally in Automation

  • Demonstrated excellent customer focus

  • Strong networking and relationship-building skills

  • Results-oriented approach

  • Strong business acumen and strategic thinking

  • Ability to influence, drive change, and make an impact

  • Experience within the paper sector with an understanding of the manufacturing process

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Knowledge of QCS or DCS Systems (desirable )

  • Knowledge of ABB’s or competitor product portfolio (desirable)
