Frontier Economics is an economics consultancy that tackles the big questions facing governments, businesses and society. We help our clients to analyse and understand their markets and to formulate strategies based on sound economics. The methods and models we use are often complex, but our advice is always succinct, clear and honest.
About the ApprenticeshipOur Apprentice Analyst programme is designed for students finishing their A Levels (or equivalent) who are keen to start their career in economics while continuing their studies.
Over four years, you’ll spend one day a week studying with the University of Kent towards a Level 6 Economics Apprenticeship, and the rest of your time gaining hands-on experience working on real economic consulting projects.
You’ll start working in one practice and as you build experience, will rotate across various practices — giving you exposure to a wide range of economic issues and industries.
Throughout your apprenticeship, you’ll have a dedicated mentor, who will support your development and act as your main point of contact with the University of Kent. You’ll also benefit from extensive training and guidance from colleagues across the firm to help you learn and grow.
- Working alongside experienced economists on live client projects
- Collecting, checking and organising data to help answer real client questions
- Learning to use tools such as Excel, R, Stata and Python to analyse and visualise data
- Helping prepare reports, presentations and materials for clients
- Carrying out desk research to understand markets, industries or policies relevant to your projects
- Supporting your team by drafting slides or summarising findings for internal and client meetings
- Assisting in project management tasks — such as tracking timelines, keeping records organised, and helping coordinate small pieces of work between teams
- Learning how to apply economic principles to real-world questions
- Building your skills through structured training, mentoring and on-the-job learning
- A fully funded Level 6 Economics Apprenticeship with the University of Kent (one day per week study)

- You’re completing (or have recently completed) A Levels (or equivalent qualifications) with 120 UCAS points (typically three Bs or above)
- You have GCSE Maths at grade 6 (B) or above, and GCSE English at grade 4 (C) or above
- You’re curious about how things work — you enjoy understanding problems, spotting patterns and finding practical solutions
- You have an interest in economics and how it applies to real-world issues, even if you haven’t studied it formally
- You’re keen to learn new skills and open to developing your analytical abilities over time (we’ll teach you everything you need to know)
- You enjoy working with others, sharing ideas and communicating clearly
- You’re organised, motivated and proactive about your learning and development
- You’re excited by the idea of using what you learn in your studies to tackle real-world questions
