The role requires collaboration across Product, Technology, Customer Operations, Finance, and Legal while identifying opportunities to improve rail retailing, conversion, loyalty, and partner value. Regular travel to Glasgow and occasional travel to London are required.

Manage and optimize production MySQL databases supporting high-volume rail search, booking, and ticketing systems. Responsibilities include schema design, SQL and index tuning, monitoring, capacity planning, migrations, read/write splitting, AWS RDS administration, backups, scaling, high availability, disaster recovery, incident response, root-cause analysis, and documentation. The contractor will collaborate with engineering and infrastructure teams and independently deliver database improvements during an initial three-month engagement.
