The Software Engineer will develop AI-based capabilities, maintain software stacks, mentor others, and tackle engineering challenges across various technical fields.

Develop system architecture, requirements, interfaces, verification strategies, certification evidence, and safety cases for a jet-powered interceptor weapon system. The role translates stakeholder needs and threat information into traceable requirements, conducts trade studies and MBSE architecture development, coordinates safety and certification activities, and addresses maintainability, testability, training, software upgradeability, and system growth.

Provide first-line IT support across hardware, software, identity, connectivity, endpoints, meeting rooms, and SaaS tools. Manage tickets, user and device lifecycles, onboarding and offboarding, Microsoft 365 administration, documentation, and office IT. Troubleshoot macOS, Windows, and iOS environments, identify recurring issues, and partner with IT Engineering on automation and longer-term fixes.

Coordinate high-volume interviews across multiple time zones using Applicant Tracking Systems and scheduling tools. Manage candidate and interviewer communications, maintain accurate hiring data and documentation, identify scheduling bottlenecks, improve recruiting throughput, and report on scheduling speed, pipeline velocity, and interview completion rates. The role is based in Munich and requires at least three office days per week, with business fluency in German and English.

Leads the technical architecture and engineering practices for corporate IT across identity, endpoints, networking, cloud, and infrastructure. Designs Terraform modules, CI/CD pipelines, secrets management, and testing practices; leads major IT projects; supports segmented and air-gapped environments; serves as a senior escalation point; and mentors engineers. Requires strong Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Jamf, Intune, networking, Zero Trust, and DevOps expertise, with AWS, Azure, virtualization, security, and regulated-environment experience advantageous.

Manage procurement workstreams across development and customer projects, coordinating engineering, production, suppliers, and supply chain teams. Support sourcing strategy, supplier evaluation, negotiations, performance tracking, risk management, prototyping, industrialization, and production ramp-up while maintaining cost, quality, compliance, and schedule targets.

Execute ground-side testing for firmware, hardware, launch systems, data links, and control stations before flight integration. Build and maintain HIL/SIL and Iron Bird environments, perform communication protocol, vibration, thermal, and EMI testing, and diagnose hardware failures using laboratory instruments. Develop regression and failure-case libraries, validate mechanical launch systems, and document results through de-risking reports and JIRA testing records. The role supports airworthiness, safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance in a defense aerospace environment.

Own end-to-end systems engineering across the full V-cycle, including requirements, architecture, design, integration, verification, validation, and release. Plan system-level testing, analyze test data, lead root-cause investigations, and drive design iterations. Collaborate with software, hardware, and AI engineers to maintain system alignment, produce technical documentation and traceability evidence, and engage directly with defense customers during technical reviews and demonstrations.

Lead Helsing’s commercial engagement strategy with UK defence procurement organizations, including the National Armaments Director Group and DE&S. Build senior stakeholder networks, align procurement requirements and timelines, shape defence engagement strategies, represent the company in senior forums, and develop internal frameworks for navigating Ministry of Defence procurement cycles. The role requires bridging government procurement and technology-industry cultures to support major defence programme opportunities.

Develop and validate guidance, navigation, and control algorithms for unmanned aircraft systems. Responsibilities include designing controllers and state estimators, simulating navigation performance, calibrating sensors, analyzing flight-test data, executing algorithm evaluations, and collaborating with aerodynamics, flight mechanics, embedded software, hardware, and testing teams.

PhD-level research intern to investigate and prototype 3D computer vision methods (SLAM, VIO, localisation, reconstruction). Survey SOTA, design and benchmark algorithms under real-world conditions, convert ideas into prototypes, and report results to a distributed European team focused on deployable defence-grade spatial perception.

Design and deliver an operational multimodal sensing stack combining EO/LWIR cameras, radar, LiDAR, and IMUs. Own sensor selection, synchronization (PTP/PPS/hardware triggers), calibration, safety concepts, system architecture, lab bring-up, and data-quality tuning for defence AI deployments.
