We're looking for a fixed-term Senior Data Scientist for 12 months to help us accomplish our mission to improve and extend lives by learning from the experience of every person with cancer. Are you ready to be the next changemaker in cancer care?
Flatiron Health is a healthtech company using data for good to power smarter care for every person with cancer, around the world. Flatiron partners with cancer centers in the US, Europe and Asia to transform patients' real-life experiences into real-world evidence and create a more modern, connected oncology ecosystem. Our multidisciplinary teams include oncologists, data scientists, software engineers, epidemiologists, product experts and more. Flatiron Health is an independent affiliate of the Roche Group.
As part of this work, you will:
  • Become a subject matter expert on our data and its capabilities.
  • Work closely with a cross-functional team (e.g., product managers, software engineers, oncologists, clinical data specialists) to develop new real-world data products.
  • Establish strong relationships with key stakeholders at our partner sites and collaborate with them to develop a deep understanding of their data.
  • Become a subject matter expert in the format, quality, content and sources of data from our partners.
  • Conduct exploratory analyses to inform our approaches to source data ingestion from partners.
  • Conduct data cleaning and define business logic to transform data into Flatiron's common data model.
  • Collaborate with software engineers to implement data pipelines.
  • Provide analytic support and create custom data outputs for cross-functional teams such as our team of clinical experts.

Who You Are
You're a kind, collaborative and analytic problem solver and value the opportunity to think beyond the way things are. In addition,
  • You have a BS or MS from a technical field of study (e.g. data science, engineering, computer science, mathematics, applied statistics, health economics, etc.) with 3-6 years of relevant experience.
  • You're impact-oriented, and care deeply about creating real change for customers, users, and ultimately patients. You choose the right, rather than the flashiest, method available to reach your goals.
  • You are proficient in SQL and Python.
  • You have strong data empathy and enjoy the process of exploring and developing a deep understanding of new data sources.
  • You have an understanding of key statistical concepts and the ability to generate and interpret statistical analyses.

  • You are a self-starter with a strong sense of ownership who can independently prioritize and who enjoys coming up with innovative solutions to challenging problems.
  • You are proficient in English and German.
  • You have experience working in DBT, Snowflake or are excited to learn.

Extra Credit
  • You have prior experience in healthcare.
