About your role: 
 
We are looking for a proactive Public Relations Executive to support the Head of PR Campaigns in delivering impactful news campaigns that enhance the reputation of the British Gas brand and drive service uptake. 

In this role, you will lead proactive media and PR campaigns targeting national, regional, and digital audiences. Responsibilities include writing press releases, managing media relations, and building a network of regional spokespeople. You will also track media opportunities, contribute to media planning, and ensure the seamless execution of campaigns across PR, digital, and social channels. 

Additionally, you will manage broadcast interviews, work closely with Corporate Affairs for a unified approach to PR and issues management, and collaborate with PR agencies and the broader marketing team. You will also host journalists at key events and ensure excellence in all PR activities to strengthen the British Gas brand. 

The role could be someone who is an established Account Executive at a PR agency or in-house role but we would also consider a more junior candidate who has just started their PR career.

Here's what we’re looking for: 

  • Has experience in a PR or journalistic position handling national and/or regional news. Can demonstrate an interest in news.  

  • Has a passion for brands, an interest in news and celebrity culture and digital media. 

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, able to work effectively in a matrix organisation and support with positive news flow. 

  • Digitally-savvy, with sound understanding of the impact of social and digital media on brand reputation. 

  • Highly collaborative and willing to get stuck into a wide range of tasks and prioritise accordingly.
