The Role
The Lending Operations Lead (the "Lead") creates the strategy and directs the daily activities of the Lending Operations Team, which focuses on designing, implementing, maintaining, and enhancing logistical and technical solutions & infrastructure for the lending products of Cash App. The Lending Operations Team works closely with the Lending Partnerships Team and the Lending Oversight Team, and is part of the FinOps Lending Team.
The FinOps Lending Team acts as "the voice of the banking partner" within Cash to ensure programs are being built and run in-line with bank partner requirements and risk tolerances while actively managing bank partnerships. The team is responsible for innovating with Cash Product teams and establishing strategic direction for lending products & programs.
The Lending Operations Lead role requires extensive experience with strategic planning, executive leadership & organization growth, strategic partnerships, vendor management, information management & security, issue management, customer service operations, and successfully operating within a federally-regulated financial institution.
The role is a leader for other individual contributors and managers with different areas of specialization. Specialized roles cover technical operations, product operations, business intelligence, and others as directed by the Head of Lending.
You Will
- Lead the Lending Operations Team within the FinOps Lending Team, and report to the Head of Lending
- Develop and implement strategies for lending product operations that drive efficiencies, enhance effectiveness, deliver additional insight/oversight/control to our strategic partners, and provide overall support to the other members of the FinOps Lending Team
- Manage technical solutions, operational processes, and workflow efficiency for lending products within Cash App
- Ensure smooth day-to-day operations, including reliability and scalability of our technical systems and processes
- Coordinate with and lead internal teams to optimize processes (Product, Compliance, Legal, Data Science, Engineering, etc.)
- Ensure appropriate risk management protocols are implemented and followed
- Oversee vendor relationships for all applicable operational tools/systems
- Contribute to and oversee the design of information flows, funds flows, workflows, and the documentation of the connectivity of systems and processes for all Lending products and partnerships
- Collaborate closely with internal teams (other FinOps Lending Team members, Counsel, Product, Compliance, Business Intelligence, etc.) while supporting the operations of the loan products
You Have
- 12+ years of experience in financial services operations, including lending
- Demonstrated that personal integrity and professionalism are paramount in your business dealings
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, with experience leading and managing teams to achieve operational excellence and drive results
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Deep understanding of lending operations within a financial institution (money movement, vendor management, technology integrations, software development, product testing, risk assessment & mitigation, process design & documentation, etc.)
- Demonstrated expertise in strategy development & execution
- Successfully managed and supported third-party fintech strategic partnerships within a financial institution
- Demonstrated deep understanding of state and federal bank regulations applicable to loan products
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills with leaders / technical teams & the ability to develop consensus and drive stakeholders to a decision

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
