  • Salary: National (Edinburgh and Leeds) ranging from £62,000 to £72,000 and London from £70,000 to £80,000 (salary offered will be based on skills and experience)

Internal Audit at the FCA offers a unique opportunity to gain a strategic overview of the whole organisation and its regulatory remit.  

 

In this 6-month role, you’ll lead the development and enhancement of data and AI approaches that will shape how Internal Audit uses analytics to deliver more insightful, rigorous reviews. You’ll work at the intersection of regulation, technology, and assurance enhancing audit quality through innovative use of data tools. 

 

Role responsibilities 

 You will have proven experience in data management and data analytics within the financial services industry to help enhance the Internal Audit division’s capabilities of using data analytical tools in both internal audit reviews and its operational activities. 

 

  • Champion the development and integration of data analytics tools to thoughtfully enhance audit delivery and create new solutions for auditors 

  • Foster strong, collaborative relationships with key data and digital stakeholders to deepen shared understanding of digital maturity both within Internal Audit and across the FCA  

  • Proactively identify and nurture opportunities to improve audit operations through data insights, including leveraging data in audit systems 

  • Support the evolution of Internal Audit systems by with data-driven insights, delivering high-quality outputs to expected timelines  

  • Partner closely with audit teams to co-create objectives and deliver tailored analytics, including data sourcing, preparation and interpretation  

  • Design intuitive dashboards and visualisations to enrich audit findings and provide inclusive training to build colleagues’ confidence in data analytics  

  • Maintain clear and accessible documentation of analytics processes to promote consistency and encourage knowledge sharing across the division  

  • Engage with FCA divisions and senior leaders, contributing to strategic transformation in a collaborative and inclusive environment 

 

Skills required 

 

Minimum: 

  • Proven experience in developing and using internal audit case management systems and/or data analytics tools within audit functions or the financial services sector  

  • Experience in presenting complex data and insights using visualisation techniques to support decision-making and reporting 

Essential 

  • Demonstrate experience in independently or collaboratively delivering thoughtful, high-quality analytics to support audits or enhance business processes  

  • Hands-on understanding of data, digital and AI tools, with a focus on using them to strengthen analytics capabilities and generate meaningful operational insights  

  • Ability to connect diverse sources of information with a holistic perspective to surface emerging issues and risks  

  • Curious and detail-oriented, with a strong interest in data, models and evidence-based decision-making to identify alternative and creative ways of working 

  • Comfortable navigating complexity, constructively exploring assumptions and showing resilience in dynamic environments  

  • Clear communicator with strong influencing skills and a collaborative approach to engaging and supporting stakeholders
